The Last of old school Vegas
The staff was absolutely fantastic. Check in was a breeze. The pool was exciting and fun. The upper pool was a dream. The amount of brass was over the top and gaudy, but the place reeked of old school Vegas. The only drawback was the desk that tried to sell you timeshares in exchange for free shows, but they weren't affiliated with the actual hotel. It's in the older part of the city, but the night show on the street was exciting and free. Very different from the strip experience, but charming and earthy. We will be back.

A little to be desired
Our room in this 2400 room hotel had been updated and was spacious and nicely decorated - except for the tub and surround which were worn, chipped and had grout missing or decayed. And the bathroom floor was visibly dirty. There was a tiny in-room safe which was convenient. The parking was free and convenient and we had good meals at the Grotto and Chart House although they lacked ambiance. All of their restaurants are without walls, so you are open to strolling passers by and the general noise of a huge hotel. The cafe was just OK, but a convenient place to grab a bagel and coffee. The most annoying thing was their in-room coffee service. They charged $10 for 4 Kierug portions, but if you only used 2, they didn't leave paper cups (no ceramic here!) to make the other 2 and you had to call house keeping every day to get more cups or more coffee. They said that was their policy because there was a charge for coffee. There was no decaf available. There was bottled water in the room, but it was $7 a bottle! The tap water was heavily chlorinated, so bring your own. When I got ready to check out, the bell service was very friendly and arrived promptly, but the hotel said their computers were down (again) and it would be at least an hour before they would be up and I would just have to trust them on the charges. They said they would email a receipt, but it has been three days and none has arrived. Would I stay here again? It wasn't a bad experience, but NO.
