We're proud to be Las Vegas' most historic hotel and casino. Established in 1906, our family-owned boutique hotel-casino offers a friendly, intimate atmosphere that's reminiscent of classic times long forgotten by corporate mega-resorts. All guest rooms have been recently renovated and in 2008 we were named the "Best Downtown Hotel" by the Las Vegas Review Journal. We're located at One Fremont Street where you can simply step outside our door into the excitement of the Fremont Street Experience - Las Vegas' most dynamic street scene crowned with a 10-story, 4-block long dazzling overhead light show and bustling with street performers, special events and free concerts. Then there's our shrimp cocktail. It's the original that started a Las Vegas tradition nearly 50 years ago - and it's still named "Best of Las Vegas" year after year! We offer charming, newly renovated rooms, a full-service casino and delicious food in Downtown Las Vegas' most historic and welcoming environment. If you've ever wondered what Las Vegas was like in the Roaring 20s or the Rat Pack era, then experience the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino - where Las Vegas started and the Fremont Street Experience begins! Guests must be at least 21 years of age to stay at the Golden Gate.

Too much smoke and noise

Didnt know that this hotel was that terrible. It was old and run down. I don't smoke so it bugged me out a lot that the room smelt like smoke and the noise you could hear from the downstairs was loud. So we left and got a hotel at the Las Vegas Hotel.. A lot better for your buck if you know what I mean.

very nice room

the room was very neat and clean. Small and nice, but you go to vegas to enjoy the outside, not to sit in the room....

Anniversary

My only complaint was that at night the music from outside was overwhelming, it played till late, impossible to sleep, not only the music but the street sweeper and so on, the insulation was bad.

weekend getaway

My experience was very short. I didn't like the fact that I had to pay for the coffe inside the room. The only good thing about this place was that i didn't have to walk very far to see the entertainment .

Great for couples

The hotel room was nice and clean, and we were right in the middle of all the action on Fremont St. Theres lots of stuff to do in the hotel and right outside and its close to the strip (15mins).I loved the stores and resturants that were only seconds away, very convenient! There was sooo much to do and see, the only complaint I have is that the hallways of the hotel smelt like a sewer and the room didnt have an iron.

Excellent Location

We have been to Las Vegas many times, However this was our first time to stay on Fremont Street. We actually went to meet friends, gambling was not our focus. The hotel is very old, but very charming. The rooms are small but decorated nice. The beds are very comfortable.
