More Than Just "Gold"!
The Gold Spike is the best downtown hotel by far. The rates are great ad its only 1 block from Freemont Street. You can't go wrong with this place at all since its 1 block away from all the action along with a 24 hour Walgreen's. Its not the fanciest place available but ask yourself if you want to spend extra money to stay locked into a room thats all prettied up. The hotel also has a 24 hour restaurant located on the main floor along with a full bar as well. The "Spike" is definitely the way to go in downtown Las Vegas!

MY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
The hotel was not in a good location and it was old and nasty looking. The housekeepers stole my android phone and the charger/usb that went with it. this was a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE hotel!!!!!! We checked out early and booked a room at Treasure Island. We told them that we were leaving because we were very UNhappy with the condition of the room and they never offered an apology or see if they could have done something better to make us stay. I called the hotel 10 minutes after we checked out and caught the deuce and they claimed the room had already been cleaned and nothing was found. The beds feel like concrete that have a fitted sheet and a blanket on it. I continue to call and check to see if my phone turned up and they just put me on hold and never come back to the phone. PLEASE IF U WANT TO HAVE A NICE VACATION DO NOT EVER STAY HERE. ITS LIKE BEING IN THE HOOD. This hotel does not even get 1 star rating from me. After booking at the other hotel our trip was great

Always shop around on different websites for the best price and when the hotel offers coupons take them and use them. Also if you stay during the week instead of the weekend its way cheaper :)

Quality room and downtown location at the right price
If you want to stay near the heart of downtown and steps from Fremont Street, Gold Strike is the place to stay. A block away from the pandemonium of Fremont, and newly renovated, Gold Strike has a modest bar with drink specials and a miniature casino with scantily clad lady dealers. A very nice pool, modern rooms, and clean friendly maid service are the highlights. Downsides are not as friendly front desk staff, mediocre restaurant, and not enough parking on busy nights and weekends.

Not fun!
Unprofessional front desk staff while I was checking in. Was told they didn't have my reservation that I made two months prior. I was then told that only a room with one bed remained. When I booked the room I mentioned FOUR adults. I don't know how they expect four adults to sleep in one bed!! Hallway to room smelled terrible like cigarettes and unpleasant air freshener. Room was mostly clean, but the toilet wouldn't flush right and looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Next time i will pay extra and stay somewhere else.

This is my 3rd time at this hotel and it was very enjoyable. Staff was freindly and courteous. Room was just right for myself. Onsite resturant is very good value and food is excellent. One of the best deals i get staying in Las Vegas. Will be back again.

disgusting
Our room was nothing like the pictures provided on the site..it looks more like an old roach invested apartment with a new paint job trying to cover up how gross it is. Our bed had 2 white sheets and no blanket, we were given 2 towels and they were both dirty and don't let me forget the absolutely nasty bathtub that had BLOOD splatter. We will NEVER stay at gold spike again! When we talked to the manager about it she said there was nothing she could do since we booked through cheap tickets but offered me a discount for a future stay. I passed on that. I wouldn't stay there if I was offered a free room.
