Cheap room expensive town
Very nice staff and ordinary room for very cheap, with free parking. Pervasive smoking throughout the casino and hotel, smells and all. No microwave or fridge, no indoor pool or indoor spa, everything very overpriced ($3. for basic cup of coffee!), and even public transportation is expensive. No free airport shuttle, and public transport is $3 from airport to hotel, but $6 going the other way, and you have to transfer at a big, confusing bus mall both ways. Very inconvenient for families with luggage. Don't go to Vegas unless you are young, travel light, and are dripping with cash that you don't mind spending on stupid stuff.

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
Drive your rental car (once you finally succeed in getting one) towards the strip, but stop at Subway and grab some cheaper food to fill up on before you get to the strip. And hold your nose in this town if you don't smoke because it reeks of cigarette smoke.

Great Location and Value
We had a great stay at the Flamingo Las Vegas. We do not gamble a ton but had fun throwing $20 in here and there. In my opinion the best part of the flamingo is the amazing location right in the middle of the strip. We did a lot of walking and it was nice to start from the middle and head one direction. We did get free tickets (with the purchase of a $12 cocktail) from a random guy on the street for Vinnie Favorito. He was excellent! Be warned if you are easily offended pass on this deal! Also, if you want some excellent food close by check out the cheesecake factory at ceasers palace. And if you head to Freemont Steet, Grotto at the golden nugget is great!

surprise fee at check out
was quoted a price for an additional day for the room as we were leaving late at night. I agreed to pay it. At check out we had to wait through a huge line with guests who were both checking in and out and was informed that there was an additional service fee that more than doubled the quoted price. The clerk was unable to resolve this issue and said someone would be in contact with me. I had to leave as this process took to much time and caused me to be late for my shuttle to the airport.

Nice stay, thought the staff coud be more friendly in the hotel restaurants. Room accomodations were clean but needed updates...seemed rather "dated". Would've liked a coffee pot in our room. Quite expensive to eat and drink.

Great location, OK accomodations
The Flamingo was the location for the event we traveled to Vegas for and the logical place to stay. The loacation and price can't be beat. Right in the middle of the strip, where everything is w/in a reasonable walk. The food was pricey but then, it is every where unless you are a whale and have comps coming out your ears. Wasn't overly impressed w/ the Buffett but the Breeze cafe was a great place for a sit down breakfast. The coffee shop across from spa was a great palce for a quick bite. The bagel sandwiches were awesome. The rooms where clean but could use some updating, as could the entire hotel. It certainly has seen better days. If you are looking for a place to stay, great price in a good locaiton - then this is the place for you. If you want to have glitz and glam - you certainly can pay for it. We took in the Mobster "museum" / show at the Tropicana. If you are a history buff and want to know how Vegas started, this is a must and worth the $30. The show is well put together and with the interaction with Big Tony and his crew of actors - it was a fun experience.

Vegas trip with best girlfriend and her fiance
Check-in lines at the Flamingo were long in the early afternoon and even longer in the evening and later that night. I waited 45 minutes to check in, only to realize as I approached the counter that I could have used the express check-in kiosks. They were completely empty. When I approached the check-in desk, I asked the service associate if I could have used the express kiosks, and she said yes. I stated that it would have been nice if someone had mentioned that. She said, "There's a sign." Unfortunately, I wasn't looking off to my right for a sign about express check-in because I was unaware that such a thing existed. A sign at the beginning of the long check-in line would have been most helpful. When I mentioned that to the service associate, she ignored my comment and continued the check-in process. When I arrived in my room, there was dust on the closet floor that ended up on the bottom of my bridesmaid gown, a broken stopper in the sink, and one extremely thin blanket between two sheets on each bed. The helpful housekeeper pulled out the stopper and suggested I keep it out. It took 3 phone calls and about 45 minutes to get two additional blankets delivered to my room. The following day, I spoke with the manager about my frustrating experience, and she was kind and understanding and offered me a $30 food credit at some of the food locations at the hotel. My friend and I enjoyed a nice breakfast at the Java Express with that credit. Thank goodness because it was almost $30 for fresh fruit, 2 medium mochas, one eclair, and one egg and cheese bagel. Wow!
