With its colored castle turrets, Dungeon arcade room and courtyard pool, the Excalibur Hotel Casino from MGM Resorts International hits all the right notes with the kids. It's also equally popular with the casino crowd, with over 100,000-square-feet of card tables and slot machine action. This Las Vegas hotel packs in the Medieval references guests might expect from the name -from shopping at unique souvenir stores like Dragon's Lair, to the dramatic evening dinner show Tournament of Kings, which recreates the jousting battles of old England. You can even dine in the Steakhouse at Camelot for time-travel kicks with thick-cuts of beef, but if you're after something a little more global, try the generous portion sizes at Italian Buca di Beppo.
Key facts
  • 3,981 guestrooms

Neighborhood
Located right on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, it's easy to take a tram or walk to other nearby casino-hotels from the Excalibur. Shows like the Blue Man Group at Monte Carlo Theater should not be missed by those seeking something truly unique and large-scale. Wishing to put some serious miles on that credit card during your vacation? Head south along the Boulevard for the posh Shoppes at Mandalay Place before cooling your heels at the Minus5 Ice Lounge.
Hints and tips
If you want to see the Las Vegas "that was," cross over to Fremont Street. Lacking the sheen of the "new Vegas," this area has a distinct charm in its mid-20th Century neon signs, like the Golden Nugget Gambling Hall. Keen-eyed visitors may spot a few locations from the James Bond movie Diamonds are Forever.

Ruined Bachelorette Party

While staying there this past weekend for my daughter's bachelorette party, someone stole her luggage from her room. After filing a report and dealing with Risk Management of the hotel, they informed us they do not feel responsible for the issue. A man used his key, it opened my daughter's hotel room door, once the girls saw him they screamed, he grabbed her luggage and ran. But it's not the hotel's fault. Imagine that. They also told us that they do NOT have security cameras in the hotel hallways, elevators, or stairwells to see who the man was. We will NEVER stay at this hotel again. We haven't even received so much as an apology. Knowing someone can access another person's hotel room does not make me feel safe.

Vegas Experience was fun but the Excalibur is not!

I was disgusted by the filthy room which had hair and red stains on the ceiling. Stained carpets and then to be look and treated as if I was trying to steal from a couple vendors. The buffet cashier acted as if I was trying to steal dinner because I wanted to sit with my family who was eating and I was not. Then I was not allowed into the buffet to sit with my family as they ate dinner at the sister casino next door the Luxor. I had surgery and can't eat what they eat but I do sit with them as they eat. Then while shopping in the convenience store a elderly Asian woman walked b y me multiple times like I would steal from them she turned out to be the Cashier. I was so insulted by the treatment of the staff. The drinks in the casino sucked too.

Better off at a motel 6

Rooms are cheap, upgrade to "widescreen room" which had a tv that looked like they got off the side of the road. Mandatory hotel fees for amenities included the wifi that had no signal not to mention my sprint phone couldn't even get one bar on it's regular 3g connection. Carpet doubles as baseboard now..they just wrap it up the wall. Dirty, bed sucked, lighting feels like your in a cave, non smoking floor smelled like pot constantly, no coffee pot, one little soap holder in shower big enough to fit one of their complimentary shampoo bottles if u can balance it perfectly. They just fix stuff by using velcro..i guess it's as good as duct tape now and days. Trust me save yourself a headache; don't stay here.

Nickle and diming you to death.

Not impressed. First of all there is the "resort fee" that all must pay so they should just add it on to the room fee. You get a newspaper but will have to hike to get it. I was told on the phone by the hotel that there would be 2 water bottles per day in the room but was told that they haven't done that in years by staff when we got there. They make a big deal of the new water slide at the pool but it is only open seasonally. You can use the sauna and steam room if you pay an additional $10. No microwave or coffee maker in the room and the room was on the shabby side. Even the TV had only minimal channels. They say there is free internet but only if you can plug in. no wifi. Can't use it if you have a tablet or ipad. We waited a long time to check and after we got to our room, another family was assigned to the same room. Very impersonal.

Excalibur Hotel and Casino

Vry poor experence will never stay there again. Sales people at each entrence which got very old. On outside also more marketeers one of which was cussing someone onthe phone. I will never stay anywhere that has a resort fee. $140 for two room for five nights. I used not a single one of the items on resort fees. Check in was fine and also the cleaning staff. Security was good and had a good presence. Dealers fair. Not enought craps tables open when was very crowed.

Dirty unclean room

Room was really filthy. Bathroom floor tile not mopped in at least a year. Nest of long black hair on floor. Nasty and dirty. Worst hotel stay on the entire strip and we have been to over ten.

Celebrating Graduation from Nursing School

We booked two rooms and when we called to get connecting rooms, they said it wouldn't be a problem. When we get to the hotel, our rooms were very far apart and we were told when we asked for connecting rooms, it was a request and not a definite thing. The lady was very rude while we were checking in. I couldn't use the free WiFi b/c it was a telephone cord and my iPad doesn't work with a telephone cord. Parking was not an issue at the hotel, they have plenty.

Red Rock Casino has a great breakfast buffet for $4.99. Must get their player card for this price. Great family friendly casino. Went bowling after breakfast for free b/c they gave us 5000 points on the player card that we used for bowling.
