My review of El Cortez Hotel & Casino

The El Cortez was a most deliightful surprise since I never expected to find accommodations that were so very satisfrying and reaswonable. Previous experience in getting Vegas accommodations was somewhat disappointing since I expected more than I got. Definitely on any return trip and stay over I shall seek firstr the El Cortez and HOPE. Not really in the city long enough to check out the environment and surroundings. Another time, perhaps.

Fremont Fanatic

The Tower rooms are larger and as nice as any in Vegas. For what it is worth, there are more security guards in and on the property than cocktail waitressess. There is no pool, but the room rate more than makes up for it. Highly recommend !

Great Value.

Classic Vegas feel. Right downtown on Freemont. Far from luxury, but excellent value and location if you like old school Vegas.

VACATION WITHOUT HASSLE

THE ELCORTEZ WAS VERY NICE. THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS THAT IT IS UNDERGOING RENOVATIONS. NEXT DOOR THEY ARE BUILDING A CONDIMINIUM. NOISE STARTS AT 0600 IN THE MORNING. NO FAULT OF EL CORTEZ. EVERYTHING WENT AS PLANNED. THAT DID SURPRIZE US. THE HOTEL IS LOCATED TWO BLOCKS FROM DOWNTOWN. EASY WALK FROM THE EXPERIENCE. BUFFET WAS SIMPLE BUT ACCEPTABLE. STAFF DOES THEIR JOB WELL. ROOMS WERE LARGE. ROOM SERVICE VERY FAST.

Affordable and Clean

Rooms at the El Cortez are clean and decent sized with a sofa, coffee table, and desk. The staff are real people not the customer-service-automatons found at the national chains. They express themselves as humans and occassionally curse. If you are looking for a hotel that is authentic Las Vegas, the El Cortez is your place. During my stay, the lobby and entrance plaza were both under construction, but there was no noise in my room and the remodeling should be over by the time anyone reads this review. It's a great value for the price.

Pleased with El Cortez in Vegas

Stayed at the El Cortez in Downtown Las Vegas Sept 2-8 and was very pleased. I booked a non-smoking, king in the tower through Orbitz. I was in room 801 Likes: 1. The nightly rate averaged mid-forties per night (including the 12% tourist tax). 2. Clean/Big room. 3. The A/C cooled just right and was easy to adjust. 4. Two spacious and comfortable chairs, small couch, desk, large coffee table, great view of LV blvd. 5. Free in-room safe (4 digit code type) spacious enough to store your laptop, Ipod, cell phone, cash. 6. Plenty of electrical outlets for recharging and tech needs. 7. Good fun book with $5 off food, $5 match play blackjack, free cocktail, $1 10 spot keno for 50c. 8. Friendly front desk and maids. 9. Good TV with several channels. 10. Good security, had to use your pass key on both elevator and room door. 11. Internet access on main floor to print your return SW Air boarding pass (25c per minute, $1 minimum, 50c to print pass. Dislikes: 1. I wish the mattress were a bit firmer, but still adequate. 2. Shower head sprayed, but not with gusto of my home shower. El Cortez will be my new haunt. Am pleased too with Orbitz.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Forget Limo or Taxi at airport. The city bus leaves every 15 minutes from airport to Down Town Transportation Center (DTC). Take your luggage right on to the bus. They don't care. The bus travels past El Cortez on Ogden. Jump off. Fare is mere $1.75

My review of El Cortez Hotel & Casino

This is not a hotel for everyone, but it is a great value. The gaming is the best in Las Vegas. One block from the Freemont Street Experience so you miss the glitter and swank of the strip but you have instead a tight packed enthusiastic fun crowd.

Good deal for price

Nice place to stay if you don't need the glitz, glamour and crowds of the typical Las Vegas Hotel. Located 2 short blocks from Fremont Street Experiance. Casino was clean and had most every game available but was a little too smokey for me. Smelled like an ashtray just walking through the casino. Felt safe walking around property, cameras all over hotel area and parking lot, plus security guards patroling outside casino and parking lot. Rooms were typical hotel rooms with the usual ameneties, including toothpaste!
