COZY ATMOSPHERE

STAFF: VERY FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING COZY RELAXING ATMOSPHERE WOULD RECOMMEND VENDING MACHINES UP IN THE VINTAGE ROOM AREAS. WOULD ALSO RECOMMEND BETTER LIGHT ON STEPS LEADING TO VINTAGE ROOMS. I STUMBLED TWICE DUE TO THE POOR LIGHTING.

Great hotel for the price

Best value in Vegas. Rooms are huge and clean. Casino is one of the best downtown. Bath is outdated but room size and bed make up for it. Main restaurant is great food for price.

Very enjoyable stay at El Cortez

This was the third time I had stayed at the El Cortez. Since my last stay, the hotel appeared to have undergone renovations. Our room was fantastic! It was on a non-smoking, quiet floor, so we were able to get away from the casino atmosphere when we chose to. We could walk to all restaurants and shops nearby. Some people may not prefer this location, but we do. It's in the downtown area of Las Vegas, not on the strip. We will continue to go back to this hotel.

El Cortez Hotel and Casino

BUY 1 night get the next El Cortez night FREE!!! I arrived earlier than my 2pm check-in time, and the front desk clerk happily gave me a vintage room. Check-in took less than a minute! My only counter point was the thermostat was set for 85 degree heat, but the room never quite got to 70 degrees (all night too). However the sheet, blanket, sheet bed spread arrangement was quite satisfactory in keeping me warm in bed! (With that thermostats setting of 85 degrees left untouched, or unadjusted byme). This old building probably is in need of an ALL new weather proofing to keep ALL the heat inside of it.

Many terrific specials offered to slot players, such as, pecan pie day, or white castle hamburgers day, etc. Wonderfulidea, plus they're advertising their 40% more chance to WIN on slots than anywhere on the Las Vegas strip!

1st Las Vegas Casino lives UP to this TITLE.

Cafe is closed only 4am to 5:30 am for cleaning. Otherwise a 24 hour palace of adventure. Some slots such as "Fishing with an actual fishing pole" is extremely addictive, and you have to keep a pretty GQQD eye on your bankroll, as it can deplete quite quickly with it's frequent but meager payouts, but it is GREAT FUN. They offer one of those "What would you do for a KLONDIKE BAR" for any casino jackpot of over $25. However, you can always go across the street from the casino to the DELI (and buy one there for $2.99 and bring it back into the casino :~)

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Binion Horseshoe Casino gives away the BEST "Free color photo with ONE MILLION USA dollars" making it MY #1 Las Vegas memory keepsake. It takes less than a minute total. BUT involves 3 steps. #1 Play the outside Free Binion Slot; #2 Play the Free inside Binion slot (50 feet straight into casino); #3 Take ALL the tickets that are handed to you and give them ALL to the Free Binion photo girl (She'll give YOU back ALL, but one). However one HUGE SUPER BIG hint is: if in a group of 2 to 12 people. Make sure everybody plays the slot (Let them know it truly take only 60 seconds ALL total) As you do group shots...insist that you have a different pose of the group for each member of the group that played the slot. OTHERWISE the casino will make one shot photo and duplicate it 2 to 12 times (You want ALL of those different poses, so you can scan and send out ALL the variety of FUN poses that the group created making this MOST MEMORABLE memorabilia of your trip to Las Vegas!)

El Co shines again

Another good stay at the EL Cortez. I received a fun book at check in. Funbook includes $5 free slot play, $5 off food in the El Cortez cafe, $5 match play on Black Jack, half off a 10 spot keno ticket, and one free drink at the bar. I used all the coupons.
