Worst night ever!

The Casino is nice. Has that whole downtown sleezy feel. Staff is friendly and the location is good. We did however ask for a smoking room and well its a group of outside motel like rooms on top of the parking structure. Our neighbors in room 5522 left their TV blasting which made the walls shake. Worst part....it was Sling Blade so we had to hear Billy Bob. We got back to our room at 12 and were in bed at 1am. At 4am our lovely neighbors decide to party with hookers (no joke)til 6am! We checked in at 8pm and were out by 6am. I'm assuming the non-smoking rooms are nicer but our experience at the El Cortez was El Caca.

Good Hotel Location

The location of the hotel was good because it is so close to fremont. There are a lot of casinos, shops, and bar-clubs. Also, it is close to the outlet.

Decent Hotel off the strip

Cheap hotel located on Fremont St. in downtown Las Vegas (not the same as the strip). If you dont like smoke, I suggest you find a different place to stay. The room itself was quite large, however the A/C barely worked and in the middle of the night it stated squealing and woke me, which did not make the most happy. I booked this hotel because I needed a cheap place to sleep. I did not care about amenities are closeness to the strip. If you do however, care about these things, stay elsewhere.

Good for what its worth

The hotel was good for what it cost. Rooms were cheap and actually very nice but the housekeeping staff didn't really replace any of the linens they just remade the beds with the previously used sheets and pillowcases. Other than that it was a nice hotel except the staff downstairs in the cafe cortez and in the subway area were rude and slow. Would definitely recommend if youre looking for something cheap near the fun fremont experience area. It did have a great location in old vegas. Oh and if you stay in the Hotel Cortez and not the cabana suites there is NO POOL!!!

The Fremont Experience is a blast! Not kid friendly whatsoever though so dont take your children there. For cheap drinks go to Mermaids casino or LA Bayou and buy a 50 ounce football for like $17 and you get half off refills whenever you want. The slots are looser in this area so you have a better chance of winning and the night life is a blast but a little on the lower class end. All in all if your looking for cheap fun its a good time

We enjoyed walking around Fremont area, and found the staff to be very friendly. Their casino was nice and the room was very spacious. Free parking was another plus.

UGH!!!!!

Check in nightmare. Told me my room reservation had been cancelled by [...]- so not. When I finally did get a room it was occupied (discovered after I tried to enter room!). Requested smoking and there were none left even though [...]and myself confirmed this request when room was booked over 3 weeks previously. So, FINALLY, got a nonsmoking room with very little in the way of an apology.

credit card info stolen

the room was fine, however our credit card information was stolen and used by a hotel employee. 1100.00 in charges were made and the hotel only saw fit to give us a 100.00 food and beverage credit for our trouble. The employee was caught due to my help.

the very old

Hotel room was one of their oldest. No elevator access. Walked up 2 flights of stairs. Was their "comp" room. Couldn't believe I was charged $80.00 for a Saturday night. Never again.
