Dirty and rude staff!

Location is perfect (one block from Freemont St). But cleanliness not good! A couple of times our bath tub was not washed correctly, carpets were not vacuumed, and worst of all garbage was not dispossessed of. Valet attendants were more courteous than service desk! Next time we will not be staying there.

Good Hotel overall

The hotel was nice and the rooms a reasonable size. The casino was fine and convenient restaurants. Also, it was located near a mini strip walk that has shopping throughout the day and music, entertainment, and shows at night. However, the only flaw I saw with the hotel is the maid service. We had to call in to request service because they didn't come even with the service sign on the door. The hotel is about a 2 mile drive to the Las Vegas Strip taking the street.

Good room and service, noisy

I just spent one night at the hotel. Complimentary valet parking went well and fast. The hotel is very close to Fremont Street, so a good base for exploring downtown. The room was OK and clean. However, my room was facing a yard where a huge radiator from the parking made noise, and the window was not thick/close enough.

Just about even

The hotel staff was friendly as were the restaurant servers, but some of the dealers lacked enthusiasim. Even when being tipped. Also, the hallway on the 16th floor smelled of an off smell. While we were there, we went to almost all the casinos on fremont st. The location of the California was perfect.

The strip (if you brave the walk) is 4.5 miles from the California. That is just to Ceasars palace. Take the bus/shuttle.

Loved, loved, loved this place!!!

I would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat! The hotel was very clean, and everyone was SO friendly!!! The dealers were helpful and patient, and so were the other patrons :) My family (including a 6 and 8- year old) went there for a wedding. I felt welcome with my children! We really enjoyed our stay!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

The bus station is very close to the hotel. We found that this was the cheapest way for our group of 5 to travel back and forth from the Strip. The buses were very clean! Taxi cabs from Fremont to the Strip ran about $15 each way.

Cal still has the Hawaiian hospitality and aloha. Comfortable and the price is reasonable. Ox tail soup has gotten better.

Spring Break/Hysteria

There with family (who came from different areas of U.S.) Hotel is downtown and not located near any convenient interests.Rooms were clean, but small-( it is a hotel from the 1940's)-quiet for sleeping-which is a plus. Very smokey casino and felt "closed in" when it gets so crowded. Felt like the token "white" person, since most guests were Asian or Hawaiian- and spoke little English. Staff was helpful.
