Prosperous Prospector.
This place is run under good business principles. They are not taking advantage of the isolation of Ely. I recommend it. My hiking partner is a swimming/hottub afficion, and he raved about the pool. The TV was good, better than expected. Good frig and mike. We also checked out the Nevada hotel, but didn't see inside an actual room. It is the big multi-story pile of bricks that gets some bad reviews on Yelp! But it is definitely ok. We also drove thru Baker NV. It's hard to tell much by driving by, but I got the definite impression that Baker exists for spillover guests during rush season.

Chinese restaurant downtown Ely is better than most of the type that you find outside a big Chinatown. Not greasy either.

Great
This was a repeat stay at the pioneer. We arrived about an hour before check in and our room was ready. The slot machines were not very generous, we then had dinner and a good night sleep and were on the road early the next morning.

decent stay, customer service neeeded
I've stayed at this hotel before while doing business in Ely because the are under the per diem rate. The hotel is decent, with large rooms, a desk and free wi-fi. I was disappointed in a few customer service interactions. I made my reservation online, when I arrived the hotel advertised a lower rate so I asked for the lower rate and was told that the low rate was only available if I called the hotel directly. Then they gave me a frequent stay card, ie. stay so many times and earn a free night. I asked when it had started and they stated in the fall, I requested credit for a previous two night stay in January and was told that they were not allowed to issue the credit because it was the last employees fault that I didn't get a card. Based on these two failures of good customer service I'm not sure I will choose this hotel again. The hotel offers two free drink coupons at check in, I would prefer a free complimentary breakfast instead of drinks..

Getaway from Heat of Henderson
Excellent service by hotel front desk! Maids were effecient! Casino employees were friendly. Restaurant was clean and friendly staff. I only wished there could have been a candy bar vending machine in the lobby.

Front Desk
Had to wait at least 10 minutes for the desk clerk to get around to checking me in. She was very slow and not dressed very neatly. Same situation on check out. Aside from that, a nice place to stay. Restaurant was nice and waitress very friendly and provided good service.
