nice hotel in a quiet town
The room did have a bit of a cleaning solution odor when we arrived so we left the door open for a few minutes. After that it was fine. Clean and a pretty good breakfast.

Clean and quiet, but not much sleep.
We liked the fact this was a "local" hotel, the price was very reasonable, and they had a continental breakfast. We stopped here to see some of Ely's character along our way to northern Nevada. The fact that the queen mattress was on a double foundation made sleeping difficult, and the bed had no mattress cover just the fitted sheet in a double size. There was no sheet under us by the middle of the night. The manager did say that she would correct this, when I mentioned it to her the following morning. Overall I'd stay here again, just check the mattress before settling in.

Inexpensive place to sleep
Half way to Riverside California. An inexpensive place to sleep the night. I thought the staff was friendly. You get what you pay for with respect to the rooms. The walls were recently painted and the room was fairly clean. We had a broken chair at the desk in our room and the television is viewable but most channels had poor picture. Over all it was fine for what we paid.

A clean, comfortable no-frills motor inn
For the price, this was an extremely clean, comfortable motel. The rooms were small, but two adults, two 14 year olds and a 7 year old were able to sleep through the night and wake up refreshed. The microwave and small fridge in the room were a nice touch, and we were able to park in front of the room. The kids were wanting a pool, but you can't have everything for the price we paid for the room. The bigger budget chain motels aren't as clean as this small place! For families traveling on a budget, you can't go wrong at this motel. We arrived late and left early, so I can't speak for the surrounding restaurants, etc. The only minor complaint we could come up with is that the coffee and breakfast/lobby did not open until 7 a.m. (we left at 6:30).

"Awful Room makes for unpleasant stay!"
We booked this room for its affordability and reasonable reviews. I am comfortable staying in small, cheap hotels for long road trips, but was disgusted by this room. Upon entering we were attacked by a pungent, chemical, 'Pine-sol" scent that lasted nearly all night. Despite the freezing weather we had to open the door and blast the heater to try to relieve the awful poisonous smell. Exhausted we crawled into bed only to discover a ridiculous amount of body hair (yes, body hair...not from your head either) in the middle blanket. The sheets appeared clean, but the middle blanket appeared to be made of prior guests body hair. Gross. I had a nearly impossible night trying to sleep without blankets, in a dirty bed, that was incredibly uncomfortable at that. The mattress was beyond worn with a massive sink hole in the middle. Do NOT go here, spend another $20 to get a great room at a larger, cleaner hotel chain. We passed through Ely again and chose to stay at the La Quinta, a WONDERFUL choice.

Ely gem
We are a family with 2 older teenage children, spending a month touring the USA. The Main Motel in Ely was one of the best we have stayed in. Lovely room, spotlessly clean, excellent breakfast, great location. Our host, [...], was an absolute mine of information, and nothing was too much trouble for her. If you can pass through Ely, the Main Motel is definitely the place to stay.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Garnet Hill was a blast, even for this beginner. I would advise taking hammers, buckets, a hat, and lots of water.
