Pick a different place... This Aint it!

I booked because of rate and location. But it needs a lot of attention. To start the hotel is run down and yes I know its a monument style hotel. Rooms are very small, locks on doors are not secure, light comes in thru drapes from outside neon lights and water temp should shut the place down. When you book room it doesnt mention that water temp is not regulated because of old pipes. Literally several warning signs and basically states you take a shower at your own risk because they cant regulate temp. So one minute its warm, freezing cold than scolding hot.. Its dangerous and stupid all wrapped up in one. Daytime staff was nice but eve staff was rude and not courteous. Theres a Ramada down the street and I will head there next time. Also food at the restaurant was terrible...

30 days on the road

On a cross-country trip we stayed here and loved it. The only thing we didn't love was all the smokers. But once we got through the lobby where the casino was, things were great. The room really exceeded our expectations. The restaurant was fine and smoke-free. We'll stay again if we're through Ely again.

Don't order the chicken-fried steak unless you're hungry. It's huge, but good.

escaping from the heat

We had traveled to get away from the heat, see Lehman Caves and to enjoy a small town 4th of July. Our location was perfect as the parade passed right in front of the hotel. We also attended the special BBQ and train ride event being held. Our host on the train was knowledgeable with the history as we passed by the different mining areas. We ended the ride with a fireworks display near the golf course. The next day we left for the Lehman Caves which were incredible - 50 degrees year round. We are already planning more trips for the various special events they hold for the train rides ranging from a chocolate train ride to the Halloween ride - which my 13 year old is excited about. Lots of history and a small quiet town was a perfect weekend/holiday getaway.

More than I expected

This was a stop on our road trip to Utah. Honestly, we were expecting this place to be a dive. While the bottom floor was certainly nothing great (smokey casino) the room was surprisingly clean and welcoming. The staff was friendly, we were given drink tickets for the bar and a few bucks for the casino. One thing to note, though this was not a big deal in our experience, is the water oscillates between warm and less warm. It never got freezing or scalding, but for some people this inconvenience may be too much.

Famous Hotel Nevada

I went to Ely for the annual Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation gathering and choose the Hotel Nevada for it's close location to where the event was going to be. The room was small but o.k.,the shower or what ended up being a bath needs remodeling also. I was not able to take a shower due to the shower spray head is what you would find attached in a 1970's model camp trailer, this would not work correctly and it was either all cold, or all hot water coming out of it, it was safer to take a bath to keep from scalding myself. I will look at one of the other motels for my next stay in Ely,NV.

Great night stop for the lonely highway

Complimentary marguarita and cheap beer at bar across the street hit the spot. Good food at reasonable prices at the hotel restaurant 24/7. Down home friendly locals on staff in the casino and at bar across the street. Only complaint was the curtain did not cut out the bright lights of the casino across the street.

Right at home

This is our favorite place to stay when in Ely. It is quiet and clean, and we always get a great night's sleep. The staff is helpful and friendly. The restaurant has great food 24 hours a day (even their $5 meal menu), and parking is never a problem. It is not your run of the mill hotel/motel -- it has history. Stop off on each of the floors, they are like individual museums. The town is quaint and EVERYONE in the town is kind, friendly, and can tell you about the town's history. Staying at the Hotel Nevada is like coming home.
