Nice place to stay

The hotel does not have a pool. That being said it was very nice in all other areas. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleaning staff, as they were quite as well as efficient. This has a large front lobby, and all though I did not research it, it has the look that says it was a boarding house at one time. I had no problems with checking in or out, and noticed that they tried to accommodate some unusual requests. It is down town Carson City(which was a lot smaller than I anticipated). It is also about 30 minutes from Reno. It also was very quite for being on the main street of town.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

The town is laid out in a North South grid. The Government buildings and museums are all on Carson st in the center of town. About 3 city blocks. South of town is the Railroad museum and the main shopping centers. Costco is south of the 395 50 split.. This is a small town in spirit. We did a lot of shopping for a sick relative and the people were very helpful. Prices are very reasonable. Do check out the museums as they are very good.

Great value

Hotel offered plenty of off street parking, check in was a breeze. Lobby was clean and tidy. Room was spacious, plenty of towels/hot water and a somewhat firm (which I prefer) bed. HVAC cooled the room down and provided a comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast items (next morning) were plentiful. Hotel located on a main street in town close to museums/historic buildings within walking distance.

Wonderful hotel

This is a great place to stay at a very reasonable price. It's conveniently located, the rooms are spacious, attractively furnished, comfortable beds and very clean. The lobby area is also large & well furnished; you have your complimentary breakfast there. There's also coffee & the fresh baked cookies! But the best thing of all is the wonderful ,amazing staff. We couldn't have been made more welcome and felt very sorry to leave.

Good value for the money

Used this hotel during my recent ski trip to Tahoe. Heavenly is only 40min away. Hotel offers a very good price/value rate. Room was clean and very quite. Very friendly staff and the rate included breakfast and wine and snacks in the evening. There is underground parking which was convenient especially as it was freezing outside. The hotel is located close to downtown. The hotel is not a casino which I liked but if you like to gamble, there is a casino right across the street.

Very Good Hotel

We were in the Carson / Reno area looking for a future retirement location. I selected the Hardman House because it didn't have a casino attached and it had enclosed parking under the hotel. The smoke-free environment is wonderful for my wife I was very happy with the room -- it rates up with much higher priced hotels. The people are great and very hospitable. In-room Wi-Fi is free, another bonus for me. If you want to visit the Nevada State and Federal offices they are all within walking distance of the hotel. Finally, the only down side for me -- free continental breakfast. There were hard-boiled eggs, which is a plus. However I appreciate the hotels with a full breakfast bar including potatoes and meat, which they do not have. YES - I will stay there again and recommend this hotel to my friends.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

The Carson Nugget is just down the street about 3 blocks from the hotel. They have two 24/7 meal specials in the restaurant area -- a breakfast and a steak something (we had breakfast so I didn't concentrate on whether this was a sandwich or a dinner). Avoid the Steakhouse in the casino. The Steakhouse is advertised as the best in Carson City and the food is very good but very overpriced.

Hardman House

We were very happy with the hotel in general... it was clean, well maintained, very nice lobby area, large room with microwave and small fridge. Loved the fact that the AC was more like at home, rather than the noisy units stuck through the wall that are normally found in motels. It made sleeping much more comfortable because it was quiet and we could easily control the temp. [...] The location was perfect... we walked to the Nugget for a great steak dinner in the steakhouse, and the next day we were off to the train ride to Virginia City, which was easy to find from where we stayed. I would stay there again, and would recommend it to others. Having a fridge and microwave was great too.. I went to Raleys after we checked in, picked up some cheese/crackers, soda's, etc. so we could eat a little something without having to go to a restaurant all the time... There is no restaurant in the motel, so other than a very minimal continental breakfast, there were no options for eating in the motel. Very nice trip, very happy with the Hardman House.

For a great steak dinner, walk 2 short blocks to the Nugget, and go to the Steakhouse restaurant. I had the fillet, and my husband had prime rib, and they were both delicious! We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to get us right in. Great service, wonderful dinner!

We will be back next year!!!!

Upon arriving the hotel clerk was very efficient and checked us in quickly. We enjoyed a glass of wine while waiting for friends arriving. We bowl in the SP tournament every Memorial Day Weekend at the Gold Dust and find staying away from the casino a better choice for us. The Hardman Hotel is clean, quiet, especially since it has underground parking, the coming and going of travelers is less noticeable. We truly found this place to be a great relaxing home away from home, our room had a microwave and refridgerator too. If you like to get out and walk in the morning, the Capitol grounds are just down the block and there is always something in bloom.

If you like Italian cusine then try Khristopher's Cafe and Floral Vineyard, 963 Topsy Lane, Carson City. The food is delicious and the owner personally serves you. And don't forget to save room for the homemade "Bread Pudding", to die for.
