From the moment a guest steps into the Kachina Lodge with its fine paintings and inviting southwest decor, there is a sense of serene New Mexico Enchantment. All rooms are tastefully decorated southwestern style and are spacious and comfortable. You can choose from King or Queen beds. Every room and suite is arranged around a quiet open lawn with ample secure parking. Most rooms have scenic mountain views and front door parking. There is a heated swimming pool and indoor hot tub. Nightly performances by Taos Pueblo Native American dancers May-October. The hotel also provides free hot breakfast. The restaurant is open for dinner Thursday-Saturday. Refrigerators and microwaves are available upon request for an additional charge.

Great Rustic get-away

I knew that this hotel was mid-range before I booked it. It was totally a fun place to stay! It was located in close proximity to the Taos plaza, and the rustic "charm" gave it character.

Definitely hit the Adobe Bar/Doc Martin restaurant. It's a short walk away, but they have delicious food and amazing live music every night of the week!

Bring your own cleaning wipes.

Breakfast was the high point. Well done in pleasant surroundings. The room was very large and the location is convenient. The issue is cleanliness or rather the lack of cleanliness. We should not be responsible for cleaning the previous occupants toothpaste from the sink, faucet, and counter. The carpet also was yucky. This is an old building but the owner could counter that by insisting that it be scrupulously clean. That would be the cheapest fix and would let the original appeal shine through.

Nice Surprise

We were so pleasantly surprised that we stayed 2 nights instead of one. Our original non - smoking room reeked of smoke and when we called the front desk they were very apologetic and moved us to a bigger room which we really liked. Breakfast was included and offered a choice of 7 different entrees...I had Hueco Rancheros and my husband had the omelette. All in all a very good experience with friendly, helpful staff and a great location.

Could be a beautiful hotel.

The building is old and needs some upgrading. The heater did not work properly. The shower had a slow drain and the drain stopper was set in the corner of the tub, the toilet was not cleaned properly. We were also looking forward to sitting and enjoying a cocktail after a long drive. A lounge is advertised on the web and also on the sign in front of the hotel. It turns out the lounge has been closed for a year or so. The free breakfast was good and the staff was accommodating the pool area was still open and very clean.

Just because it's a Best Western doesn't mean anything.

It is worn down, old rooms and don't have people on call if you need something done to your room. Free breakfast was awful too.

Decent place

The room had a slight smell of water damage but wasnt to bad. The breakfest was really good for a free breakfest. The TV is an old school box with very limites stations. We did not have ESPN for example. So if yoir sports fan trying to check out a football game you will have to find a place in town to wacth the game. We booked a king room but a queen and on the sign out front it said the rate was 48 dollars a night. We payed 70. Just something to think about. All in all its a really good value for your money if your looking for a cheap decent place. I'd stay there again but would want the 48 dollar rate.
