The only good thing was the location of the hotel. . .

The only good thing about this hotel was the location, all the other things were not good. Let me inform you so that you can make a wise decision when it comes to staying here. These are things I saw while staying in the room. Bathroom, the bathtub was dirty and there was black hair dried to the shower walls. The toilet seat was broken, and slid to one side when it was sat upon. The fan above the toilet vibrated and shook so bad when it was running that it caused the heat lamp bulb to quit working. The counter was so high that my son could not reach it. He is six. I had to bring a chair from the table into the bathroom so he could reach the counter. Television, every channel was fuzzy. My son and I were not able to watch tv due to the bad reception. Room, everything was covered in dust, and the linens smelled musty. Location of room, we were assigned a room that was in the back part of the complex. When we drove back there the area was dark. We stumbled our way through the snow to our room because we could not see where the walkway was. Bottom line is, don't stay here. It is not a three star hotel, it is a one. There are better quality places to stay in Taos for the same amount of money.

OK Motel

Good: Staff helpful, quiet, off main st, ample parking, clean, security guard on premise. Bad:bathroom didn't feel comfortable, food was terrible, no comfortable place to sit in bedroom. Basically, an ordinary 2-star motel;very average motel.

Went to attend Taos Pueblo Pow Wow, see Taos Pueblo, Chimayo, and go rafting. The whole trip was even better than we expected. The hotel staff: desk clerk, maids, waitresses were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really great. The linens were kind of skimpy-thin, but clean. The decor was nicely southwest. We plan on staying there again.

Nightlife tip: Not Applicable

Be aware that the whole town closes down early and the only place we could find to eat after 10:00 pm was the casino. Also you cannot buy beer after midnight and the "clubs" require membership

Disappointing

Reasonable price, but accommodations left much to be desired. It took 4 rooms before we agreed to stay. All required additional housekeeping or maintenance work (e.g. dirty walls, floors, & funiture; mold in showers; holes in drapes; torn window screens; etc). Front office personnel agreed to alternate room requests, but made no attempt at service recovery. Fortunately, the dining facility, waitress staff & complimentary breakfast were quite pleasant.

Pleasantly Surprised!!

After reading some of their reviews we were a little dubious but decided to try anyway because of the price. All around it was a great stay. Affordable, clean, very friendly, very good breakfast. The only negative comment would be the breakfast was not hot. It was very tasty, just could have been hot. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again. Very convenient to our sightseeing. Celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Terrible in Taos

Wrong reservation request. No food or drink on Sunday. Locked out of room. Location was quite far from town center. Staff very impersonal and noncaring. Especially the people at the front desk and the manager.

Hotel Don Fernando de Taos was a great choice for us. My daughters and I fit perfectly and had alot of space. It was very clean and had alot of great features. The location was nice because it was located close to the middle of town. I will definatley stay here again!

Don Fernando -- Just say no.

The hotel was really dirty. Our non-smoking room smelled like someone had been smoking in it for 50 years straight, the grounds were full of trash and litter - bottle caps, cigarette buts, plastic bags, the carpet was dingy, the sofa and lamp were both stained, the sheets were threadbare, and the hot tub had piles of sand and dirt at the bottom. It was really gross, actually. The breakfast buffet was pretty good the first day, but the second day was disgusting. And I'm not a picky eater in the least. The staff was super kind and friendly, but unfortunately, even their wonderful demeanors could not compensate for how awful this place was.
