A nice place to runaway for the weekend!

We stayed in one of the few "named" suites, it was large and comfortable. The hotel Don Fernando De Taos is just a couple of ... miles from the Plaza and across the street from a major retail store, so if you forgot to pack your toothbrush it is an easy replacement. The restaurant is only open until 10am so better not sleep in! the grounds and the staff are very Pet friendly and you just might find a new friend or two during a walk! All in all a really nice place to run away for a weekend!

Be sure to drive the Enchanted Circle. It is about 80 miles but goes through some great mountain scenery. Especially Red River. Angel Fire and Eagles Nest not so much.

The main beef I had with this hotel was I paid for King online and got there and voila, no non smoking Kings. So had to ... settle for a room with two doubles for a "romantic" weekend of sleeping in separate beds since I am a big guy. On the good side the hotel is pretty friendly, its about what you pay for. The bartender was cool and the restaurant and coffee shop across the street are great. For those on a budget I would recommend, but for a special occasion....I would pass.

Large clean room. Friendly helpful staff. The biggest negative is the restaurant inside the facilities only serves breakfast ... and lunch and they do not serve breakfast until 8:30am which is to late if you are traveling. I would diffently stay there again.

This location was better than I thought. The price was great and the rooms were perfect. I read one of the previous reviews ... that scared me but I thought I couldn't beat the price. It turns out that the review was proved wrong. All doors had locks not like the traveler mentioned. The rooms were larger than normal, the furniture was beautiful and the grounds were well kept. Plan to stay there again soon.

Great hotel for the cost

We were in Taos to visit Taos Pueblo and the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge; and to just relax the rest of the time. We stayed in ... this hotel for 1 night. It was 4 friends sharing a 2 double bed room. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was clean as well. Only negative about the room was the bed. It was really firm and not very comfortable. We were all under 30 and tired and we didn't have a problem, but for someone who is used to a plush mattress and cannot sleep otherwise might have issues sleeping. Overall, we were pretty happy with the room considering the cost (under $70)

Room and Staff were very good. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Business trip and allowed me to change clothing for travel ... after the meeting. Had breakfast resturant, but only one waitress and she did all she could do, but service was slow. This may be different on others days or higher volume of room occupancy.

Attended a Archery Shoot. They didn't have a conential breakfast, which we thought was part of our hotel fee. And, soem of ... the toewls we got in our room were stained brown, like someone wiped them on the floor. Room was stuffy so we had to run air conditioner all the time to get rid of slight smell in our room.

Great Accomodations in a Beautiful Town

Hotel Don Fernando De Taos, Taos, New Mexico was a very comfortable hotel located in the town of Taos, NM. It is ... conveniently located on the main street through town and very close to downtown shopping and restaurants. Hotel is well off the main street. Only complaint would be that we had need for a computer to make a bank transfer and hotel has a commercial computer in the lobby for use by travelers. Only problem is that fee was $3.95 for 15 minutes and it is apparently dial up service. Our transaction took 1/2 hour to complete when it normally takes a couple of minutes using our broadband connection at home. I mentioned to the hotel staff that travelers like ourselves would be willing to pay a higher fee for quicker service. I don't think I was taken seriously and asked if they had a suggestion box in order for me to express my disatisfaction more formally. They didn't.

My stay at the Don Fernando was very enjoyable. It was in a very convenient location...Easy to find...Great accessability to ... area attractions. My room was much larger than I expected and very nicely furnished. I'm planning a return trip to the area and will definitely stay there again.

The room was very comfortable,and there was adequate space. The bathroom was neatn and clean. The hotel was only about ... two miles from the main business district. It was in an area that was quiet. A coffee shop was across the street, and some other businesses.

Everyone in the city of Taos was very friendly. Actually, the Pueblo Indian reservation was the highlight of the trip. Don't miss it! We were there the last week of May and the weather was perfect.
