The only show in town
This Inn has great rooms and wonderful food. The Ghost Ranch several miles away is a gorgeous place to hike. However, it would have been helpful to know that the Inn's restaurant does not serve alcohol, nor will they allow it in the dining room. Also, there is no cell phone reception anywhere in the Inn or on the grounds and the in room telephone works well for outgoing calls (bring your calling card!) but had lots of difficulty for people trying to call in.

THere is a liquor store up the road about 1/2 mile with nice wine selection. Bring a corkscrew. One time we were able to get one at the desk and the next night we couldn't so had to go back to the store to get one.

Tomisita's is our favorite restaurant! We found out that Tia Sophia's (breakfast & lunch) and Atrisco Cafe @ DeVargas Mall are owned by extended family. Same great cuisine and wonderful service!

Comfortable surroundings
WE enjoyed the close location to the many wonderful museums and galleries. The one thing that would have helped the stay would be a better fold-out hide a bed.

Far from the historic plaza
The hotel is conveniently located for driving out of town, north to Taos or other pueblos. However, I would not recommend walking to the plaza. "5 short blocks ..." is misleading. It is on the "the other side of the tracks" so to speak. However, this is offset by the free shuttle ANYWHERE within a 3-mile radius of the hotel. We were there off season, and the shuttle was practically a private limo service, with the friendliest drivers ever. If you want to stay in a central location, this is not the place for you. The apartment style accommodations are roomy, but be advised that daily cleaning is not the norm. You are expected to wash your own dishes. It was more like staying in an apartment, roomy and comfortable. The common areas of the hotel were very clean and well kept.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
Many affordably priced, fabulous restaurants are nearby. However, don't wait too late to eat lunch, because most of the good restaurants close between 3 & 5pm! Restaurants close early at night, too. If you're dining in the downtown area, be prepared to pay for parking, or even better, take the shuttle.
