This hotel was not clean, ...

This hotel was not clean, comfortable or in relatively good condition! The carpeting all over the halls and in the room was old, worn and shabby. My room was not very clean. The tub/shower had not been washed or properly cleaned. While there was a rolled up bath mat and new soap wrapped in celophane on the edge of the tub, the tub had chunks of dirt in it! The faucet in the bathroom was working defectively and got stuck on either very cold or scalding water temperatures. I scalded my hand more than once before the management had maintainence repair the faucet. It had to be fixed, but that was only possible on the day after I arrived. The shower came out as a mere trickle and made it difficult to wash my hair and bathe properly. Then I was not able to utilize my shower after a long day of travel before an evening event I was due at by 7PM! The hotel management was unable to get housekeeping to clean the room in a timely manner so that I could utilize my shower. They were unable to change my room because the hotel was full. I was offered the opportunity to shower in the assistant manager's room; an offer made with good intentions but nonetheless not appropriate being made from a young man to a woman travelling alone! The pool area was not well kept up. The pool color was a strange green, indicating that algae had been growing in it. There were no pool towels at the pool for guests. The equipment in the supposed fitness center, which was a guest room converted to a supposed fitness center, was broken! I never even went up to the restaurant in the hotel because after dark it apparently became a nightly disco lounge which brought unsavory characters to the location. There was all kinds of noise, there were some unsavory-looking characters and oodles of smoke and noise all around later at night. To me this hotel was one big rip off.

Don't fall for WiFi claim

One of the key considerations I have in selecting hotels is that they have in room WiFi since I need to conduct business on the computer. That was the claim here. The reality is quite different. WiFi does not work in the rooms. The front desk is only up front about this after you've checked in and call to ask where the hell the WiFi is. The only place you can get an internet connection is sitting in the lobby. If you need WiFi, don't stay here.

My review of The Lodge at Santa Fe

The hotel was a wonderful place the only thing is the air condition, when you come from a place like Texas where it is very hot you would love to be cool at night when you stay a hotel, The room temp was very hot I could not get the air to work right, I would go back if it wasn't for the air condition. The dinning at the Hotel was way over priced and the food was not that good for a stake it was 23.00 it was not worth that.

My review of The Lodge at Santa Fe

This hotel was just OK. What I mean by that is that the staff and location was great but our room was just satisfactory. It was clean enough but we were unhappy with where the room was located. The only view we had was of a brick wall. We spent one night in that room and asked to be upgraded. The next day they put us in a small suite for an additional $33.00/night but even that room looked directly out at a wooden fence. It appeared to me that many of the downstairs rooms at this hotel did not have views. Our new room however, did have a microvave (which we did not need) and an extra bathroom sink. It also lacked the closet space of the previous room. When you go to Santa Fe, it is really nice to be able to have some kind of view from your hotel room. My girlfriend and I work out quite a bit and one of the reasons we decided on that hotel was because of the fitness room. It was very inadequate. The one and only treadmill they had was out of order. The only other cardio-type of equipment they had was one stationery bike. There was a fairly large stand-up universal-type of machine there with a few stations for different muscle groups. However this also was unsatisfactory. And that was it. We ended up going to a building next door which had an excellent gym. That cost $10.00/person/day. The other thing we were interested in when looking at this hotel was the swiming pool. We never had the time to use it but if we had we may not have gone in the water anyway because it was a little dirty. The water was somewhat green and there was a lot of debris in the water. Maybe it was going to be cleaned at the time I saw it. I believe the hotel had just one restraunt. We never ate there but the breakfast buffett looked pretty good. The hotel itself was in a good enogh location and they did provide a shuttle to take you to downtown Santa Fe every hour on the hour. Overall, I suppose, for the money spent it really was not a bad deal. We just expected a little more. I guess you always do. We probably would not go back there again. We did have a great time and we our looking forward to another trip to Santa Fe in the near future.

A lot of changes

This hotel is under new owners (Horizon/tribal) and has changed a lot since I stayed there five or six years ago. The beds and rooms are very comfortable and up to date (except for shoer/tub) and decor and furnishings have a nice low key design. Staff was friendly and genuine. The location is perfect for those headed north -- trip to Los ALamos is quick.

Incredible view!

One of the most incredible things about this hotel is the view from our room. I was also pleasantly surprised at how good the food was at the hotel restaurant. The staff was very helpful making some reservations for us as soon as we arrived for another restaurant and making sure we didn't get lost. The room was small but very comfortable. Overall, The Lodge gets four stars (no one is perfect) from me.

Great visit!

After a grueling day of travel from the east coast to Santa Fe, I checked in and was well taken care of by the staff. I got an upgrade because the room I reserved was not available. Super room, quiet, big and comfortable. I was worried about the bed because of other reviews, but I found it comfortable. I used the pool and ate in the restaurant. I also heard that the wi-fi was not good, but my room had great wi-fi. All good experiences during my 4 night stay. I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel is very clean ...

This hotel is very clean and comfortable and the staff was helpful and professional. Pet owners, this is the place for you! We travel with our small dogs and we almost always have to stay in less than pleasant hotels where they are allowed...the Lodge allows the pets and has a large courtyard available for walking them. The restaurant overlooks the Sangre de Cristo mountains and has a diverse menu and wine list with good prices. The wait staff were particularly pleasant. Oh, and no problem connecting to the wireless internet, which was a first for us after struggling with limited access in hotel rooms across New Mexico for a week!
