LA POSADA IS OUR FAORITE IN SANTA FE

This was our second stay at what has become our favorite spot in Santa Fe. It had been almost six years, so as we neared La Posada I’ll confess we wondered a bit whether or not the resort would be as wonderful as we remembered... it was even better, which is saying a great deal! From the prompt and efficient check-in service to the quick arrival of our luggage in our room by a smiling valet who knew the answers to our questions we knew we were in for another 5-star stay. Our room was lovely with a flat screen TV, comfortable leather arm chair, desk for the laptop, mini bar, coffee server, king size bed with four downy pillows. In the bathroom area was a large closet, safe, ironing board and iron. The sink counter was wide with plenty of room for two plus all of our accoutrements. AND, the amenities - Frette towels, plus delicious body lotion, conditioner, shampoo, and mouth wash formulated exclusively for Rock Resorts. (Loved the Lavender & Lemongrass shampoo!) Breakfast on the patio was a delight - everything from Huevos Rancheros to pancakes to granola. We enjoyed dinner in one of the Resort’s restaurants, Fuego, (Braised Beef Short Rib for him and Wild Mushroom Cavatelli for me). Another evening was sparked with live music and after dinner drinks in the bar - a fun place! Dress throughout the Resort is casual, comfortable. There’s a Business Center available with computers and printer, plus a shuttle service providing rides into downtown Santa Fe and pick-up when called. This service is on a first come first served basis, but we never waited longer than 10 minutes either way. A newspaper of your choice is delivered to your room each morning, and other papers are available in the main lounge area. La Posada has an on-site curator and displays over $1 million of original art works throughout the Resort’s public spaces and guest rooms. What an experience to stroll throughout while admiring this magnificent collection of art! Pops of color greet you around corners just as sunlit landscapes draw your eye. Cannot say enough good things about the staff who were always friendly, ready to help if wanted and never intrusive. Actually, we cannot say enough good things about La Posada de Santa Fe! We’re already planning a return visit as we’re eager to enjoy it at each season of the year.

Wonderful experience

We arrived 3 hours before check in. They gave us a room early. The location of the room wasn't acceptable to us. They allowed us to use the room until another room was ready (about 4 hours later). We spent the day at the pool. [...]at the pool does it all. We sat down and were immediately served lemon ice water, which she promptly filled throughout our time at the pool. She claims no one gets head stroke on her watch, and I don't doubt it. She served snacks and drinks with great efficiency and always with a smile. When we did check in our new room they had cocktails waiting for us for the inconvenience, which really was not an inconvenience at all. The hotel provides free shuttle service that friendly and readily available. The hotel is within a easy walk to shops and restaurants. The hotel has a nice lounge and restaurant too. The hotel grounds were well maintained and amenities were well marked. Enjoyed a hot rock and rolling thunder massage at the hotel spa. The hotel is tranquil and nice for a get away from the kids. We would visit Santa Fe again and definitely stay at La Posada!

an excellent resort

We used La Posada for relaxation, exercise, and as a base for touring local museums and the surrounding area. The room was quiet, well-appointed (two comfortable reading chairs plus a desk), and well-lighted. Services were outstanding, especially the valet parking and shuttle van crew and the concierge. Food was excellent, but service in dining room was slow even when not busy.

For lunch or dinner, try the bar menu - while more limited, it is faster and cheaper.

Doesn't Measure Up to Others

If you like drafty, cold rooms with loud heating systems and a hotel manager that doesn't respond to your requests, then by all means, try this dump. The staff, especially the valets, do a great job and are very friendly. Too bad the hotel manager isn't included in this group. By the way, I've stayed at other Rock Resorts at other locations and they are fantastic!

Nice enough

The hotel was very nice and our [...] price was about 50% off! Room was clean, staff was sharp. Room was quite small, though and the fireplace was operated with an on switch and gas logs, not real wood!! The expensive breakfast was lousy with poor service. Guests were snobby! The shuttle was very convenient and timely, took us all around town. The grounds were pretty and seemed very private. We would stay here again, but only for a similar price, definitely not worth the full price of the room.

Quaint and Quiet resort

We had a beautiful stay at La Posada. The staff was very friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out. Our room was very beautiful with an absolutely quaint walk-out patio. Room was clean and had a lot of well-thought-out details and inclusions that gave it a very homey feel. The hotel is in a great location in that it is in close proximity to the town center (5 minute stroll), yet it is far enough to have a quiet atmosphere. Amazing pool with the most comfortable patio chairs/cushions ever complete with pool bar and light fare food. We dined at the fine dining restaurant, Fuego, in the hotel and had a very nice meal. The restaurant had a beautiful ambiance and the food is appropriately priced. The rooms are generally two rooms to each adobe house and we happened to be on the first floor of one. Upon check in, we heard quite clearly the cleaning people above us and also the walking up and down the wooden stairs right next to our room. Most second floor rooms our accessed with an outside wood stair case. I'm not sure if this was just the acoustics of our room, but it definitely was quite noisy. We called the front desk and I can just say we were lucky that nobody was staying above us for the portion of our stay. That would be the only complaint I would have, although that problem could have been unique to our adobe. We would definitely stay there again -- we miss it already!

Dining tip: In Hotel

If you are looking for a truly fine dining experience in terms of the quality of the food, you might want to explore other options in Santa Fe. The in house fine dining restaurant, Fuego, was lovely and the food was quite nice, but a bit sub par for fine dining in our experience.
