Lovely authentic feeling hotel
Hotel St Francis was ideally located just a 2-3 minute walk from Santa Fe Plaza with all it's beautiful attractions and shopping. The feel of the building was generally that of an authentic New Mexico property although everything was new and clean. Hotel staff were amazingly friendly and helpful especially when it came to making recommendations for places to eat, points of interest etc. The room was very comfortable, maybe small by American standards but plenty big enough and tastefully decorated. There was a fridge in the room and a hair dryer provided, the only thing missing that would have been nice would have been tea/coffee making facilities although a well known coffee chain was within a 2 minute walk. All in all, this was a great place to stay and I would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful hotel
The St Francis is located in the heart of old town Santa Fe. You are in walking distance to any place downtown. Its a lovely hotel with nice and comfertable open areas, and comfortable rooms. Its all been redecorated in a clean Spanish colonial style with a modern twist. The staff is always helpful and patient. If you have a car, its snap to park. I supose the only thing i can say in caution is that the rooms tend to be warm while the heat operates, but the windows are compleatly able to open and it solves that issue. Sometimes you might hear street noise. But isn't that city living?

Great getaway!
Perfect location, couldn't be any any better. Rooms are small but clean with limited amenities. Bed's were very comfortable. Hotel itself is very nice and beautiful. Room was hot for the winter time. The thermostat didn't seem to work. You could open the windows but could hear the noise of delivery trucks, etc throughout the night. Great hotel if you are planning to spend most of your time out in the wonderful downtown area. Not so good if you are planning to spend the majority of your time in the room.

Great Location
This is a great hotel. Newly rennovated. Excellent location. Yes, rooms are small (like European ones), but keep in mind this building is old. Besides what do you need a big room for, aren't you in Santa Fe to have fun? If you have a big family and small children, this might not be a good bet for you. Lovely lobby. Restaurant has great food. If you want cheap in Santa Fe, you should eat at McDonalds. Otherwise, take a chance and eat breakfast or dinner here. Staff friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel
Nice hotel, good location, unique feeling. Has the feeling of an old Spanish monastery with whitewashed walls and rough wooden floors and furniture.

Pleasant stay
My stay was to look for land for a vacation home but I needed to stay connected for work. Rooms are on the smallish size and my first one didn't have a desk but the front desk easily moved me to one that did. Wifi was good and reliable. All staff very friendly and accomodating. Can't beat hanging out on the front "porch" pretty much at any time for relaxation and people watching!

Beautiful Hotel
I stayed at the St. Francis for the weekend. I lived in Santa Fe some years ago, so I knew of the hotel and had always wanted to stay there. The front desk staff was efficient, kind and knowledgeable. The rooms are nicely done, if you don't mind the sink in the room and not in the bathroom, and limited storage space. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever found in a hotel. I did not eat in the restaurant, but I did have a drink in the bar with my date. They got my drink order wrong numerous times and then the waitress made it a point to tell me that they had discounted the drink. It would have made a better impression if they had just comped both drinks and moved on. But other than that, my stay was great.

If you enjoy New Mexican cuisine, try The Shed, Tia Sophias or Pasqual's. The Ore House is right on the Plaza and has live music on the balcony. All of these are a short walk from the St. Francis.

Pretty basic...
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful - and the hotel was very clean; so if all you need while traveling is friendliness and cleanliness, this hotel is completely adequate. That said, my room was extremely small and the decor/amenities were beyond minimalist. There weren't even hooks on the wall to hang a standard-sized garment bag (which also wouldn't fit in the small closet space). The restaurant hours aren't extensive - I guess I expected that the hotel restaurant would be open for whenever I needed something to eat in between business meetings, etc. It wasn't. The walls are also thin. I heard the other hotel guests in my hall throughout the night any time a door opened and/or closed. If I return to Santa Fe in the near future, I will most likely try another hotel to see how the Hotel St. Francis compares with at least one other property near the Plaza - but I will keep this hotel in mind for a quick business visit with last minute planning.

Beautiful Hotel Atmosphere--cramped room
the Hotel is beautiful. I loved the lobby and front patio for drinks and people watching. Charming hotel. Rooms are attractive BUT Rooms are very very small, beds where not at the same level of comfort I've seen at other hotels. Only a hard wood chair or bench in rooms for sitting. So small thermostat was behind furniture. Breakfast was terrible. I should have ordered my green chili on the side. I could not find the eggs on my plate underneath 8 oz of chili sauce. I wondered why the restaurant was empty while the restaurant across the street had people waiting to be seated waiting on the sidewalk. Aesthetically beautiful, not practical. Next trip to Santa Fe will not stay there but go there for drinks. I really wanted to love it, when I walked into the lobby to check in I was smitten but then it turned out average.

Rude front desk
Great location and the decor was very peaceful. The bed very comfortable. The young man at the desk was rude. The $9 parking fee was a surprise. The reposa/ afternoon tea/ sherry advertized for thursday thru saturday was not held on Thursday and the front desk was rude about that too. Very poor phone etiquette and no apologies--even though the welcome letter on the bed stated this was an event. I would probably not stay here again, as the customer service was just not up to scale for the cost. On a positive note, the young womean at the desk on Fri morning was very helpful and told us we could leave the car parked there while we shopped.
