If you want the worst nights sleep ever...stay here!
Rude staff.. Had a loud conversation outside our room at 5am. Called three times in the morning from 7am to 10:30 trying to get us to leave early. Dismal breakfast...stale bread and watered down juice. Dirty room, dripping faucets, and a saggy bed with only two cheesy pillows. Thinest walls ever...heard everything above and below...as well as to each side. I'll sleep in my car next time before I'd ever stay here again!

One night stand only
Booked a non-smoking room. Note: Non-smoking floor is between smoking floors above and below. Room smelled like someone dumped a bottle of commercial air freshener on the floor. The place charge me after the stay for the room as well. Still trying to work out recovery with only staying one night and paying twice. Front desk could care less who was coming or going as Facebook and Twitter seemed more of a priority than guests. $78 room not worth $30. All furniture in the room was damaged in some way or another (i.e. holes, mis-matched handles cheaply being replaced, etc.) Sadly the area is very over-priced for what the offerings are.

If you are into history (geologic/natural or human) this area has way too much to get to in a week's time. Get out of town and see WWII practice bombing sites, Sitting Bull Springs, Rattlesnake Springs, Last Chance Canyon. Study up on the Old West and be amazed.

Family Getaway!
This hotel is a great location for the caves. We felt it could of been a little cleaner and had a funny smell in the hallway. Price was a little high for the quality of the hotel. Staff seemed very nice and friendly. Over all I would give a 2 star rating.

Pleasantly suprised
I was there on business. My usual hotel was booked up and thought I downgraded my stay in Carlsbad by settling for this hotel. I was dead wrong. The hotel was very clean, the room was fresh, the pool was very clean and well maintained, the guy at the service desk was friendly, the waffles were great and I feel embarrassed by prejudging a place by it's low price. This hotel is a great deal and I would take my family there if I was to return on personal time. Worth the money.

You do get what you pay for, this is a no frills motel... but it was tidy with nice clean sheets. Very nice staff, extremely easy drive to Carlsbad Caverns (why I went to NM). I was traveling by myself so it worked out perfect for me, just needed a clean bed to sleep on, and that's what I got.

Extremely easy to get to the caverns from here. Take a right out of the hotel and just follow the road. Maybe a half hour ride, keep going straight.

just ok for 1 night
it was just ok for sleeping one night.. we were very tired and didn't care about the noise and little dirtness on the bathroom... i would not pay more than 50usd for a night but since it is the closest to the caves, I guess thats why it is more expensive..

Pleasently Surprised
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room amenities were nice and included a refrigerator which is always a bonus. Many places I stay at that charge over $100 do not have an in-room refrigerator or other amenities offered here.

The restaurants in the Carlsbad area close very early. I arrived in town around 8:30 pm on a Saturday night and most of the restaurants were already closed. The one pizza place I did find closed at 10pm and the staff was very rude to me saying things like I had to hurry up and finish because they were closing (in an hour) before I had even ordered anything. I finally ordered my food to go and they failed to add any eating utensils for the spaghetti I had ordered. Not a very pleasent experience at all. Thankfully the hotel made up for it.

It was a place to sleep.
Arrived to a run down location with teenager running the desk. Sweet girl but she spent most of her time on the cell phone calling the MGR to ask questions. Strange he was not there on a Friday night. I had prepaid for room but girl asked for my credit card and charged it again then appologized and said she didn't know how to reverse the charge and I should wait until tomorrow when the manager would be back. I had asked for a non-smoking room and was placed in a smoking room. After seeing my buddy's non-smoking rooms condition I decided not to ask to be moved from the smoking room. Every time I went to the front desk there was a long line of people trying to get problems fixed. Many of the other guests looked like homeless people. I still have a charge, from the hotel, on my credit card pending for an amount that is not the same as the room charge. Most of the other hotels in this town were in the same or worse shape and they were more expensive.

Good for the money
Breakfast was excellent!! They have a waffle maker and prepare the waffle mix for you to use and have yummy yummy waffles for breakfast. The staff were very nice and I appreciated the washing machine and dryer that were available. Location is great for Carlsbad Caverns, and close to some restaurants and supermarkets (well, Walmart), although not much stays open in Carlsbad past early evening. Main problem was smell. Carlsbad area has some natural gas extraction, which leaves a really nasty smell in the air, which also affected the area of the hotel. I imagine the issue affects other area hotels, as well. I've seen reviews complaining about bedbugs, but thankfully we had none, even after checking all our mattresses and boxsprings.
