Do not stay here!
First we were given a room that was still occupied. Had to go back to front desk to get another. The room was very plain with no pictures on the wall and the refrig. was not cold at all. I was charged $109.99 plus $13.75 in tax for a total of $123.74 but have a reciept when checked out for $98.99. Where is the other $24.75? I paid less at two Holiday Inn Expresses that were much nicer than this place. What is wrong with that situation?

Do not eat there. I had an $18.00 ribeye steak that was over cooked and about a 1/2 inch thick. I could have cooked a better steak on our engine block and the backed potato was this size of a tennis ball. The best thing was the salad. Sad.

really a motel
I hated this place. We arrived late at night, and the night "manager" cooly watched as we struggled with several bags and suitcases (5 in total), waited until we were at the desk to tell us that our room was across two courts and the best way was to take the car and drive out of the hotel, down the road, and back into the other side. When we were packing our stuff back in the car, the laughter among employees was loud and clear. It almost seems as if they make a joke of it. The room was ok, if nothing special, but I had to lug my suitcases up a flight of outside stairs, like a motel, which is what this is. I walked to the lobby early to sit and read so as not to wake my wife, and along came an employee, plopped down with her newspaper and proceeded to cough the whole time I was there, without even covering her mouth. Disgusting. The buffet breakfast was a depressing affair. We walked a quarter of a mile from our room to get crunchy pancakes (!), burnt eggs (!!), greasy bacon. For fruit you could either grab an apple or have nothing. The only way to get coffee is through a server, who is angling for a tip. But all she does is serve coffee (and after the second cup she disappeared). She will not offer to help in any other way. This was not a cheap hotel. Perhaps Carlsbad has no other options. Sad...

Overpriced, good location
Dirty towels were left in the bathroom upon check-in. Rooms could use a remodel. Were not informed of breakfest buffet information at check-in. Ok if you are looking for a Motel 6 type room, but too expensive for what you get. Reserve early for Carlsbad Caverns and stay at the newer Fairfield Inn or Hampton Inn.

comfortable beds
Quick and efficient check in and out. Good breakfast buffet offered. Comforatble beds and pretty quiet. They could have offered a more substantial comforter all they had was a duvet cover without the comforter and a thin blanket.(In December)

Pretty nice...
I have stayed here several times over the last year, and have found the rooms to be spacious, comfortable and convenient. The only complaint I have is that there are some rooms that have no desk or table, and are hardwired instead of wireless. Otherwise, it's a great place, clean and nice. Outside noise can be a bother, but it's a tradeoff for being able to park directly outside your room.

Very nice
Aside from some confusion on the front desk's part as to which room I was actually *in*, it was a fine visit. (The desk clerk handed me my e-keys with a post-it with my room number on them. I appreciate the confidentiality--what I didn't appreciate was that he'd written the wrong number.) Once I got that sorted, the room was clean and quiet. Perfect for me. The town of Carlsbad isn't much for dining--aside from the restaurant/lounge attached to the Inn, it was fast food or a 24-hour Walmart. I chose the Walmart, went to the grocery section and bought fruit and cheese and some crackers.

Great place!
I was in Carlsbad to conduct research, and stayed at the Stevens Inn. It was a nice, clean, room, with plenty of room to do research and writing. I also found the staff to be really helpful. I think it may be a little overpriced for what is a basic to nice room.

Good Place Overall
We stayed here to go to Carlsbad Caverns. The hotel was on the south end of town that made it convenient to the caves which are about 20 miles. The rooms were large and clean. We had a room close to the pool which was nice. Very good price and an above average Continental Breakfast! Beds were comfy, and it seemed very quiet. It isn't the newest hotel but it served all the purposes we needed!
