Good value for money
Nothing fancy, but as a budget accomodation, this is great value for money. Good location and much cheaper than the hotels closer to Carlsbad.

A 30 minute drive to the caverns is ok; if you stay at the motel that advertise being closest you also need to drive up to the visitor center.

Very disappointed.....
I took my daughter to Carlsbad for a softball tournament and was referred to this hotel so I thought it sounded ok... In looking at the hotel on its website it looked really nice.. it showed a nice pool and nice rooms... boy was i wrong!!! the pool wasn't filled the room smelled and there was a biker convention right outside our window at night w a blaring band and loud motorcycles... needless to say I was very disappointed and will never stay there again!!

Scuzzy
The bed lamps were unplugged and one wasn't even working. The back of the lampshades were scuzzy. The toilet handle was almost unpushable. Broken beer bottles were everywhere on the walkways and in the parking lot. I really regretted reserving here.

A world traveler
you get what you pay for
I'm a well seasoned world traveler and I've stayed at some grungy, digusting, and interesting places before; but I've also stayed at America's Best Value Inn before too...and this was nothing like the others I've been to. I definitely got what I paid for. Although the staff was nice, and fairly friendly, the room was quite disgusting! The sheets were stained with who knows what, the room smelled funny, and the bathroom was disgusting to say the least. It's definitely worth splurging another $40 or so for a different, much nicer hotel. However, if you don't care about possibly contracting something from the carpet then go for it. I'm not sure how legit this place actually was, the house cleaning staff didn't have uniforms on, and the clerk at the front desk wasn't wearing any shoes when we were checking out.

middle age couple
Pretty run down
The hotel is pretty runned down. Our bathroom tub fauset didn't turn off and the curtains didn't shut all the way.

It was a friendly place.
If it wasn't for the friendly staff, the hotel would be empty. It has a small bar. That's the only fun thing to do at this place.

Disappointed
Hotel is old and not very pleasant. Thin walls and lots of noisy travelers. Picture missing from the wall over bed, curtains wouldn't close all the way, toilet barely flushed and shower hard to manipulate. Outdoor sports bar open and lively until late on a Wednesday night. Not very restful. Had to go buy some air freshner so we could stand it.
