DO NOT STAY HERE

Let me first say that the hotel was very nice and certainly captures the "heritage" theme. Everything about the "hotel" was very good. It is the hotel STAFF that made this our most horrible experience ever...and we travel a lot and stay at hotels across the country. I had my identity stolen just weeks before this trip so I took cash as I was limited to what credit cards I could use while the theft was being investigated. Little did I know that I would become a victim once again. We [...] had to cover incidentals at check in. I used a cash deposit ($100) for this....MY biggest mistake. At check out the clerk had no record of this deposit but rather said they had a card on file for me with the deposit on it. I asked for the card information and provided the clerk with the only cards I had with me and we determined that this was NOT my card they had on file. An obvious error had happened but they still refused to refund me my deposit. After speaking with the General Manager, she said they would get in touch with the clerk who checked me in and verify this cash deposit. I asked her what are they going to do if the clerk doesnt remember and she said they would "make it right" and send us a check if they had to. They took our information, etc. and we had no choice at that point but leave. Before we got on our plane to depart I called the hotel and spoke with the GM. She told me "we have concluded our investigation and found that you gave us a card and your id and we authorized the incidentals...there is no wrong doing on our part so we are sorry but you will not get any money back from us".....I gave them every opportunity to make this right yet she said no...even that the card they had on file was not mine but probably another guest. I guess we could have run up a rather large bill and they would find out who owned that card when THEY got their bill. I also asked if they had cameras at the front desk so we could go back and review...we all know the answer now..NO CAMERAS. So, we are out $100 (which is not the issue for now) but the fact that we trusted this hotel, pre-paid for our stay, and yet I was a victim of a thief that they employ and continue to support. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU ARE OK WITH A THIEF WORKING AT THE FRONT DESK.

Beware staying here/thieves

My husband and I travel on a regular basis and to Albuquerque consistently during football season. We have stayed in many of the local hotels and NEVER had any problems or complaints. However, this LODGE is poorly run and has thieves for employees. Our cash deposit was pocketed by the clerk working the front desk and some fraudulent credit card or card of some other unsuspecting traveler was swiped and used as a farce. On top of that, the GM - was has no concern for customers and in fact was unwilling to keep her word of returning the stolen funds. I'm a police officer of 13 1/2 years and I would not allow my DOG to stay at this hotel. This was the worse experience with a hotel and with Albuquerque that we have ever had.

First time

The rooms were clean and nice. The fact that there is no room service or resturaunt makes it a little rough. The staff is very un friendly and un helpful. Not impressed at all for $100.00 a night.

City View = LOUD view of Highway I-25

We booked this room in advance through Orbitz. It wasn't cheap. The interior of the hotel has a beautiful Southwestern flair. The front desk staff was "snooty" and said she was providing the City View room. Sounds lovely, when in fact it faced I-25 and the noise was horrendous. In addition, there is no sound buffering from the parking lot. We heard every car door, every voice - you name it. Stay away from the "city view" or I-25 unless you prefer not to sleep very soundly.

Native Indian theme is attractive

I would consider it an average, satisfactory experience. The room was small and the bathroom had no ventilation (which was VERY inconvenient.). The breakfast buffet was very reasonable at $7, but was not appealing; a special ordered breakfast was more attactive. Any staff we encounted was pleasant, but the room didn't get cleaned for three days (the maid would show up at 3 PM when we were back taking a rest. after we'd been gone for 5 hours). After 2 1/2 days we emptied the waste baskets ourselves...no big hardship!

Not great

Requested non-smoking room - corridor smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Given another room which was already assigned to someone else. Finally, on third try received room. Maintenance is sadly lacking. Housekeeping began 'slacking off'' by third day. Reservation was for 6 nights; we left after 4th night.

Moths and ice buckets

Desk staff was wonderful at check-in. Lobby decor is stunning. However, that's where the magic ends. When I tried to pick up the ice bucket from its location on a shelf above the TV, I found out the hard way that it was never emptied by housekeeping and ended up drenched--and so did the TV. Front desk staff wouldn't answer the phone so had to go down to get towels. Also, Albuquerque was experiencing a huge moth infestation, but there should NOT have been so many in the room and hallways. Staff should have been more proactive in dealing with the problem. Room maintenance left something to be desired--finding working electrical outlets was challenging, among other things. Bed was very comfortable and AC worked great.

Elephant Bar restaurant. Don't waste your time on dinner, even though it was excellent. The desserts are unbelievable--we had the creme brulee and apple-blueberry-walnut cobbler. Yikes!

Disappointed

Based on the reviews, we would have expected much more. The walls were thin and on the first night a loud woman talking next door woke us up at 4 AM. Day two we slept late and asked housekeeping to come back later. We left for the day around 1 PM and when we returned at 8 PM, the room was never cleaned. They sent a Maid up and we asked her for coffee and she left and never returned. I ended up having to go get it from the front desk myself. The highway noise was loud and made it difficult to sleep each night. The room temperature seemed to be difficult to stabilize so it was too cold or too hot. Day three the room was cleaned, but no towels or toilet tissue was left. Again we had to chase down the front office lady (who was very nice) but she was busy and really couldnt attend to our needs. She indicated that the Maid was told to bring us towels, but never showed. She brought them herself, but failed to bring wash cloths or hand towels. We were also out of coffee (which was not replaced...again...), so I had to go to the desk once again to get my own. The hotel manager at the desk offered 2 breakfast credits for the inconvenience, but since we were leaving before breakfast was served (7 AM) we couldnt use the vouchers. The night before departure I printed my boarding pass in the lobby which was .49 per minute to use the computer. It was extremely slow and ultimately cost me $8.00 to print 2 boarding passes. The icing on the cake was a cockroach in the bathroom at 5 AM when I got up the day of departure. The rate was reasonable, but considering all the "mishaps" and the highway noise, I would not recommend the Nativo Lodge. If you do decide to stay, make sure you get a room opposite the highway and bring your own coffee.... Note, there is also a $10 per day charge if you want a refrigerator which we did not get, but I thought I would let you know..

Great price but some issues!

I enjoyed the accommodations especially given the convenience of their locale coupled with the overall price reduction [...]! However several things have taken the initial luster off my stay. First was the fact that it was very difficult to get any staff personnel on the room phone. I called the front desk once & was never answered. On another occasion I called for room service for an in-room meal only to be answered by housekeeping and then told that the hotel did not provide room service; a strange lack of customer service in this day and age. But even more irritating is the fact that before I even left home & checked in my debit card was debited the full amount for the stay [...] and after I arrived back home I found a $40.00 debit from Nativo. When I called the lodge and asked the reason for the additional charge I was told it was a customary service charge that would drop off by debit account in "a couple days.' I am use to these 'placeholder' charges from service stations but normally only in the amount of $1.00. There is no reason why forty dollars of a customer's money should be tied up for several days when they have already paid the full amount for the hotel room.
