Nativo Hotel - no shower water

Hotel lobby is very nice, but the room had some problems: 1) Shower water would not turn on! 2) A/C unit only partially worked - room too hot! 3) Non-smoking room stunk like cigarettes! 4) Room had the old style CRT TV not an LCD panel display.

Great Place!

Stayed at the Nativo Lodge in May and loved it! The place was very nicely decorated in native styles, colors, and layout. It provided a very clean place to sleep. The lobby bar was the perfect place to re-hydrate after a long day in the dry Albuquerque weather. The bartender was super cool and enjoyed watching some NBA on the flat screen. My only complaint about the Nativo Lodge was the jacuzzi. I can't call it a hot tub because it was lukewarm. Other than that, I would recommend that travelers stay at the Nativo Lodge.

Distinctive features

The hotel is distinctive because of the Native American motif and decorations. The room was clean, large and comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I only had breakfast, but it was a uniquely New Mexican dish. Nice interior atrium with native decorations and sociable feel. A bit close to the freeway, but I had a mountain view so it did not bother me. Good location if you have business in northeast or need to stay on north end of town closer to Santa Fe.

Watch out

I had prepaid for my room. When I arrived they asked for a credit card to "hold" for incidentals. When I checked out, there were no incidentals, but my credit card had actually been charged when I presented it. When I called them, they insisted it had not been charged. Had to call the credit card company directly to get it resolved.

Average minus hotel

The Navito is beautifully designed in the Southwestern style! Very nice beds, room was on first floor with large glass doors going out into a small courtyard. Being December the doors were not weather stripped and cold air came in even though the heavy drapes were pulled and heat on. No ventilation van in toilet/bathtub area. A large/medium mirror in the hall outside the vanity would help people ck their looks...one mirror in vanity is small. Dogs next door prevented a good sleep most nights...reported to desk. Two nights we were approached by a woman in a car asking for money...reported to Security who took care of this and should be complimented for his action..next day a police person from ABQ Police was present. No newspaper was available/delivered as said in Guest Book. Inquired and desk person said they are under new management and did not update book. No luggage cart available, only one for over 100 guests. Desk personnel unable to find cart, generally unfriendly.

Great accomadations, clean!

I stayed in a variey of places while traveling this great contry of our. This was my favorite. The electronics is old. Everything seems well kept. A times I good hear people outside. I was on the 5th floor. The gym has one tread mill that worked the other was broken down. No weights. The kids dominated the pool. I would highly recommend this place

Antique TV

The best part about this motel was the location and price. Getting a bit worn. The TV is very old and limited channels, No free breakfast but does have a cafe. The staff was very nice and helpful. It does have a indoor pool.

Disappointed

Based on the reviews, we would have expected much more. The walls were thin and on the first night a loud woman talking next door woke us up at 4 AM. Day two we slept late and asked housekeeping to come back later. We left for the day around 1 PM and when we returned at 8 PM, the room was never cleaned. They sent a Maid up and we asked her for coffee and she left and never returned. I ended up having to go get it from the front desk myself. The highway noise was loud and made it difficult to sleep each night. The room temperature seemed to be difficult to stabilize so it was too cold or too hot. Day three the room was cleaned, but no towels or toilet tissue was left. Again we had to chase down the front office lady (who was very nice) but she was busy and really couldnt attend to our needs. She indicated that the Maid was told to bring us towels, but never showed. She brought them herself, but failed to bring wash cloths or hand towels. We were also out of coffee (which was not replaced...again...), so I had to go to the desk once again to get my own. The hotel manager at the desk offered 2 breakfast credits for the inconvenience, but since we were leaving before breakfast was served (7 AM) we couldnt use the vouchers. The night before departure I printed my boarding pass in the lobby which was .49 per minute to use the computer. It was extremely slow and ultimately cost me $8.00 to print 2 boarding passes. The icing on the cake was a cockroach in the bathroom at 5 AM when I got up the day of departure. The rate was reasonable, but considering all the "mishaps" and the highway noise, I would not recommend the Nativo Lodge. If you do decide to stay, make sure you get a room opposite the highway and bring your own coffee.... Note, there is also a $10 per day charge if you want a refrigerator which we did not get, but I thought I would let you know..

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Sadies was an excellent Mexican resturant we visited while there. Food was excellent and was reasonably priced, but the drinks were a bit pricey.
