Great stay for a conference
Regional Conference attendee Dec 15, 2009
I was at a business conference that was hosted in the Hyatt Hotel. The room was comfortable, the bed was just right with a ... selection of different pillows. The perks of free wireless internet and free breakfasts at McGrath's was a nice touch. The wait staff were helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again if visiting Albuquerque on vacation.

Disappointing for a Hyatt...
SrfrGrl Nov 23, 2009
This Hyatt Regency didn't live up to my expectations. The hotel was older and needs to be updated. The carpeting in the halls ... looked dirty but the room wasn't that bad. The worst part of the hotel was McGrath's Restaurant. The service and food were abysmal at best. I ordered an omelet for breakfast but it was made with Egg Beaters and I couldn't get a refill on my drink. The only reason I stayed at this hotel was because it was adjacent to the Convention Center and the other two hotels where my friends stayed were full. At least the front desk staff and bell boys were really friendy.

We stayed at this hotel because it was only about a block from the convention center and since we were going to a conference ... at the convention center the location was perfect. The hotel is very attractive. the rooms well arranged and spotless. The only negative is that the lighting is the room could be better.

Way, way, better than other options

If you are a person traveling alone, be sure to upgrade to the business package. For me, it was the same price as the regular ... one but, with it, you got an awesome breakfast in the morning, free internet, a big bottle of water in your room, the new york times, and free shirt ironing service. I had a friend staying at a competing hotel and this was a million times better. Seriously.

Nice hotel
Jimary Nov 10, 2009
This stay was part of a fly/hotel package and included three individual breakfasts. Parking was $16 per day, but they picked ... up that charge at checkout for our 3 day stay, so we paid nothing for parking. The breakfast buffet coupons were only for one person each day...but it was a very upscale spread. As only one of us is a "morning person," that suited us fine.

Hotel was very nice, staff exceedingly friendly and prompt to any queries. The area around the hotel is not so great for ... walking due to local homeless, but very clean and well policed. The bus is convienent, although many of the attrations to the area would be easier to access via rental car. Great place, I'd stay again.

On Friday, 09-11-09, my wife's 50th birthday, we attempted to have dinner in the hotel's restaurant. Upon entering we were ... told we could not be seated for at least an hour and a half due to their being that far behind because of being short-staffed. The adjacent bar was not much better, also being way behind, only having one server and one bartender, not serving guests seated outside on the patio, no seating in the bar, and at least a 30 minute wait time to take a to-go order at the bar because of being - - short-staffed. After a very long wait my to-go order arrived only to discover after returning to my room that my entree had been left out, causing another trip back to the bar to get my wife's burger - - not he birthday meal we had planned on, not the happiest of birthdays. I will not use this hotel again. The $12/day parking, no free wi-fi, and no service at the restaurant is not the ideal way to spend a vacation. Next time we will stay in Santa Fe.

I originally reserved room for two days for a close bye wedding party, and wanted to move close to my cousin's house (15 ... miles away from this hotel) for the next two days of my stay. I loved that hotel so much I decided to extend my stay. When I found out the rates are higher than my original rate, front desk advise me to go ahead and deal with Orbitz and then she will make sure we stay in the same room. ...and I did and saved.

My three sisters and I stayed here to get away and celebrate one of our sisters recovery from breast cancer. Our other ... sister was in town from Virginia. We went to dinner downtown, had a drink in the hotel bar, and then retired to our room for a board game and much needed conversation. We slept late and ordered room service. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Praise God for allowing us that time together.

The downtown dinner scene is miserable -- most of the restaurants close at 3pm. There are restaurants on Central, about three blocks away, but they still seemed pretty lunchy. Get a cab to Old Town -- touristy, but good restaurants.

Old Town is pleasant and the areas around with the character of Old Albuquerque. We took a pedicab bck to the hotel and the driver was very informative and nice. It was a lovely evening and a perfect way to go back to the room. The food in Old Town was OK..mostly a tourist place. The shops were very commercial and hookey. too bad.
