Great location

Our room was not ready since we arrived early so they gave us a room with 2 double beds with a great view. The a/c did not work and later in the evening they replaced the unit. The hair dryer also did not work so they replaced it. The only complaint we had was every time we called Guest Services it went to voice mail, even when there were people sitting in the office at the time (hubby downstairs while I was calling). Once they get their Guest Services issue solved, this could be a great hotel and receive 5 stars rather than 4.

Rustic, dated.

Listen, if you're from New Mexico and you're looking for a place to stay in the big city, then this is a perfectly nice place for you. The rooms are clean, the beds are acceptable, the tv (a big 24-inch back project tube thing) works, there is a restaurant downstairs that serves expensive New Mexican cuisine. It's fine. But if you're from elsewhere - say New York or California or Arizona or Texas - which is to say, if you're from somewhere where you're used to *nice* rooms, then you are unlikely to be satisfied here. Because my description of everything above still stands: the rooms are clean, the beds are acceptable, the tv (big 24-inch back-projected tube thing) turns on, there is a restaurant downstairs that serves expensive New Mexican cuisine. It's fine. There are a few "above standard" perks: coffee in your room is Starbucks; soaps and shampoos are Aveda; the pool is fairly nice; the grounds are quite beautiful. And so this place is your standard 3-star hotel, plus a couple extra amenities. But really - for an extra couple bucks, there are nicer places in this town.

Exactly what we needed

First time in NM with some sigthseeing and visiting a friend's family - the location couldn't have been better. Easy to walk into Old Town and easy to access main roads for day trips. The room was clean and very comfortable. The staff impressed us most - very friendly and helpful. I spilled red chili sauce on a white shirt at breakfast the first day. While the Hotel store did not have any spot remover, Housekeeping provided me with cleaning solution which worked perfectly. Leo in the dinning room was also very friendly and helpful - excellent staff overall. The pool was not open, and we did not use the hot tub - but it was a beautiful setting and very well kept - I hope to stay there again.

on a whim, we looked at the hotel alone and then looked at hotel and car for our stay. The cost of hotel and car was less than the hotel alone.

great hotel in old town

The hotel is beautiful with a lot of charm, the room was clean and neat, and the cafe in the hotel has great food! It was too cold while I was there to use the outdoor pool, but it looked very nice.

Worked out great

This was our first visit to New Mexico and we wanted to experience some of the charm and culture of the area. We enjoyed staying at the Hotel Albuqueque and appreciated that it is part of a group that is preserving some of the local culture. The hotel was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town

This hotel has that special touch of Southwest culture although from the outside it does not look too appealing with 11 floors. However, every room has a balcony with a wonderful view either to the Sandia mountains or over the old town and Albuquerque (hear the bells of the old mission church) . In summer you can enjoy an outdoor swimming pool and a beautiful pergola in the garden with fountain. The hotel restaurant offered just a very few options but they all were very tasty. This hotel is in walking distance to the historic old town district of Albuquerque.

Good hotel in excellent location

Overall, the hotel was comfortable and attractive. The room was a good size and comfortably furnished. Hot water was a little spotty, but everything worked. The staff at the front desk were eager to serve and were helpful with directions. I lost hot water briefly during a shower. When I mentioned it to the staff, they gave me a gift certificate for use at the decent in-house restaurant.
