just what I needed; no complaints
I was attending the Electric Daisy Carnival at MetLife Stadium a few miles away, and this was the nearest place I could book with only 2 weeks left before the event. It was relatively cheap and not too inconvenient to get to/from each day by taxi (~$25 ride), and the shuttle to Manhattan was useful. The hotel itself was all the basic stuff I needed-- clean room etc. Nothing fancy but I'm happy I chose it.

Never Again
After reading the reviews, I decided to give this hotel a chance, and I regret it. The area is fine, and there are many NICE hotels near by, but this one is not. The rooms are not clean. We had to switch rooms after finding droppings in our bed. Then the other room had layers of mold on the shower head. Disgusting. The rooms didn't have good temperature control either. We had to set the thermastat to 85 just to stay warm, and it was only 50 degrees outside. While I'm picking away, I might as well throw in that the "hot" breakfast is not hot at all. It is bagels, muffins, and cereal. It wasn't terrible, but when I'm told hot breakfast I expect eggs, waffles, or something hot... I can definitely say we will never be staying at this hotel again, and I highly recommend others avoid it at all costs.

Just one night maybe
I stayed one night and overall, it's less than the name Howard Johnson. Staff was not necessarily kind. Room was filled with some tobacco smell. The bed especailly was like a plywood with no cushion at all. Whether you believe it or now, the microwave ticked and tacked after 1am until morning. Breakfast was horrible. Most of all, I had poor sleep.

Kinda Scary!
Scratches and pry marks on door. Tiny window faces busy truck route 9 feet away. T.V. reception awful and not many channels. Bathtub so small, there is no flat spot on bottom.

Not the best, Not the worst
The staff was a little sketchy and the room seemed dirty. A room is a room though - especially in New York.

Money-saving tip:
In Hotel
They have a shuttle that goes to New York City for $20 per person for round trip. This was a great deal. A Taxi is probably at least $100 for this trip.

Good for a shower & sleep
Pros: Big room, easy check-in & out, free parking, 20mins drive to Manhattan, free breakfast Cons: Room needs update, they look run down, WiFi very weak Stayed here just after Christmas'11 when visiting New York with my brother. We just needed a decent place to shower & sleep close to Manhattan. Definitely cheaper than staying on the island & just a short drive via the tunnel. There's a Dunkin Donuts & a Wendy's close by. Great if you just need a place to stay, the room we stayed in was really big (2 queen beds). If you'd be spending time in the room or have someone who's fussy, look elsewhere.
