Pre-season Cape May Traveler
This is an older style 4-story hotel but it's right on the beach and every room has a large balcony facing the beach. The balcony is large enough you could seat four around a card table and still have plenty of room to spare. It's a short walk to the Washington Street outside mall. The hotel could definitely use some updating (e.g., rug was near end of its life) but the room has a very roomy living area with a TV, a separate sleeping area also with a TV, and small kitchenette including an electric burner, microwave oven, and refrigerator. It's not plush, but it's also less than the "plush" hotels and B&Bs. My wife and I generally prefer higher end accommodations (which this is not) but we both agreed for the comparative price, we'd come back here for our usual "pre-season" trip to Cape May. The hotel has a restaurant, bar with outside bar seating, as well as a pool but we didn’t use the pool as it wasn’t quite warm enough. While there was parking behind the hotel, we found it quite frustrating. The parking spaces are VERY narrow and our nice Toyota Avalon got “dinged.” If you can, drive your smallest vehicle or a vehicle you don’t mind getting dinged. One other option – you might be able to find a parking space along Madison Avenue right next to the hotel (there are no parking meters) which my daughter opted for with her car. All in all, we’d do it again, especially if traveling with my daughter and her fiancé as the price was lower but the accommodations and amenities quite acceptable.

About 4 blocks north along Beach Avenue you'll find one of Cape May's best restaurants - The Pier House. It's about a 10 minute walk, a little pricey, but well worth it!

Lots of annoyances
Well for starters the room was a little dirty. The soap and shampoo dispensers did not work. The thermostat did not work. The worst part of the whole trip was the random housekeeping person banging on our door at 8:45 to see if we were up for the 11:00 check out time. NOT happy!

This is an excellent Cape May property, right on the beach. Great staff, too. Made you believe they were glad you were there.
