Signature Trump glitz and one of the world's largest casinos

The Donald must be a gambling man. A casino-centric resort, the Trump Taj Mahal is set on 17 acres of beach and Boardwalk real estate works hard to offer eclectic decor and plays hard in the slots, table games and poker departments. Opulent, Trump-style touches play off the palace theme in rooms and public areas. Stay fit and feel great in the Taj Spa & Fitness Center, a therapeutic enclave with an indoor pool, Jacuzzis, steam bath, workout facility, and TLC-minded pros at the salon and spa (daily fees apply).

Highlights
  • 19 dining choices include 4 formal restaurants, Hard Rock Cafe and Starbucks
  • Voted "Best Casino" by the readers of Casino Player magazine
  • Adjacent to the Steel Pier amusement park rides
  • Taj Tower's legendary Penthouse suites
Rooms

Ocean views, from partial to panoramic, fill guestrooms that deliver wireless Internet access (fees apply), premium mattresses, coffee stations, makeup mirrors, on-demand movies, games, and digital music. Bunk down in the newer Chairman Tower Suites at Trump Taj Mahal for bold bedding, floor-to-ceiling windows, and glass walk-in showers. Suites focus on luxury with raised whirlpool baths and iPod docking stations.

Features

In ode to the hotel's name, interior design at the Trump Taj Mahal is on a grand scale. Seven two-ton elephants carved in stone greet arriving guests. Seventy minarets adorn the roof and $14 million USD worth of German crystal chandeliers hang inside. Carrera marble adds glitz throughout the property. Gaming is king here in Atlantic City at one of the world's largest casinos. The party continues at two performance venues and a handful of bars, lounges and dance clubs open as late as 6 a.m.

Dining

Curb any hunger craving at Taj's 19 restaurants, cafes, sandwich shops and specialty eateries. Burgers, pizza, noodles, soup, Zagat-rated Italian cuisine, steak and sushi top the list. In early 2011, look for an outpost of the Atlantic City icon, White House Sub Shop.

Casino

Deep pocketed players appreciate the Baccarat Pit, a high-limit gaming salon. Duck into the Simulcast Facility to place real-time wagers on horse races from up to 20 tracks around the country. The Poker Room, one of the city's largest, hosts the annual United States Poker Championship.

First time in AC, Taj Mahal was nice

I really can't complain too much about the hotel or the room. It was nice. I had expected a little more out of Trump, especially with the details like we only had one small garbage can in the room and our tv didn't really work, and I expected some fancy shampoo and conditioner and I am pretty sure it was some cheap drug store brand that he slapped his name on. We didn't go into the rooms of any of the other hotels, but from what we could see going into the casinos and bars, all the hotels are comparable. I don't think I would stay here again because of the price. Also be aware, if you self park, parking is free in their parking lot but you have to check into the room first or they will charge you $5.

great getaway

this was a very enjoyable stay, very large clean rooms, but thin walls, we could hear our neighbors. The food was great not to pricy for a four star hotel. was'nt much entertainment during our stay and the slots machine was very tight but we had a great stay.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

1-Go to the outlets to do your shopping. The area around this casino leaves much to be desired for. So take the short trip and go to the outlets. 2-There is some construction on the roads going to AC. So be prepared, especially if you leave on the weekends or during rush hour.

glad it was only one night

Needed a room for one night since we were in town for a concert. Check in was quick and friendly. our room was just serviced as we arrived and we found food on the floor (looked like french fries and part of a burger). After shaving it took hours for the sink to drain, not a nice site. There was no outdoor pool at this "resort" hotel/casino. The sun deck was on a roof near the air conditioning equipment. There were two hot tubs that were "residential" type units (fits 4 very cozy!). No beach access from this location, you needed to walk through the casino or convention floor. One restroom on the casino floor was disgusting with a pungent odor, no area looked clean (did notice the attendant on a cell phone outside the entrance). I did not have high expectations and since we were only there one night (actually only hours) we did not waste the time to complain...but never again, not as a patron or a guest.

Our trip to the Taj Mahal

We gambled, walked the boardwalk, swam in the pool and ate good food. The Trump Taj Mahal was great. However, I'm very unhappy with my reservation experience with Orbitz. My wife and I tried to check in at the Trump Taj Mahal aand Orbitz hadn't reserved our room for us. We had to wait more than 1 hour to get our room, and then Trump took a credit authorization of $249 additionally because the reservation didn't go through. They will refund the $249 after 72 hours but we didn't know they would do this and now our credit card overdrew. So, because of Orbitz, we waited over an hour in the lobby and overdrew our credit card too. I wrote to Orbitz, who wrote me back a boilerplate email that I have to call their Customer Service number to talk to a customer representative. The last thing I want to do is wait on the phone and waste time waiting to talk to someone who won't do anything for me. Next time, I'll think twice about using Orbitz.

Don't Expect Them to Care

Parking was jacked up from when I initially called because of an air show. They don't tell you about the additional fee until you arrive. Bathtub was dirty. Check in took forever because I booked on Orbitz. The man at the front desk had to call someone in order to find my reservation. He said Orbitz reservations aren't in the same system, and they take 10-15 minutes to locate. After complaining about everything that was wrong, he gave us a room with an ocean view. It was nice, but it didn't make up for the inconvenience. THE WALK FROM THE PARKING TO THE ROOMS TOOK FOREVER. Easy to get lost... bad signage throughout the hotel. Several places to eat were not open for dinner on the nights we stayed. This would be a good place to go for a couple of days... but it's way too fast paced to only stay for a night or even two. We had a much more enjoyable time staying at the Hilton in Manchester, NH two weeks ago. :(

If you take the "taxi" down the boardwalk, then ask the man pushing the basket, "How much to get back to the Taj?" First he said ten, and I said no. He said how about eight? I said no, and he said for the two of you I'll do it for five. We decided for the walk, but if you do want to enjoy that experience, NEVER pay the first price they tell you!!!!
