Off the Boardwalk relaxation with big views and five pools

A ritzy addition to the ever-popular Borgata in 2008, this water-view retreat boasts a unique cosmopolitan vibe. The 5-star Water Club is the result of a $400 million (USD) development endeavor that features 43 stories of modern, relaxing bliss. Done in dark neutrals and earthy materials, this luxurious Atlantic City hotel cultivates a soothing atmosphere with easy access to the Borgata for excitement. Aptly named, The Water Club features five heated pools that invite lounging year round, plus a score of luxurious amenities meant to pamper and spoil.

Highlights
  • Three indoor pools and two outdoor pools with palm trees, poolside cocktails, jacuzzis, underwater music and cabana rentals
  • Decadent two-story Immersion spa
  • Fitness center has the latest machines from Techno Gym with panoramic views of the city and shore
  • A tranquil hotel environment adjacent to the action of the Borgata, a 24-hour casino, a dozen restaurants, nightlife and shows
Rooms

Just 800 attractive rooms and suites (a modest number by Atlantic City standards) offer ocean views, 400-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, mini bars, rain dome showerheads, robes and slippers, 40" Sony LCD HDTVs, in-room dining and Wi-Fi access (fees apply). Those wanting a flat-screen TV, bathtub or mini-fridge prefer the Borgata instead.

Features

Take a peek in six designer boutiques, stop by the Sunbar for a nightly scene around the pool, or head to the Borgata for high-end dining, 85 poker tables and 4,000 slot machines. A pre-arrival concierge can assist with dinner reservations, entertainment, tee times or floral arrangements. At the center of the lobby, energizing sunlight pours into the Sunroom Lounge where guests can relax among the gardens, order refreshments and enjoy views of the outdoor pools.

Recreation

A two-story spa sanctuary in the sky, Immersion calms the senses with 360-degree ocean views across its floor-to-ceiling windows. Take a dip in the infinity-edge lap pool and create a spa day from a treatment menu tailored to loosen tension with ayurvedic therapies. The spa includes a state-of-the-art fitness center (fees apply) and gourmet spa menu by Chef Geoffrey Zakarian.

Not good or child friendly

It was not a good experience. Customer service was terrible. They would not let us use the pool because we had a child. YOU SHOULD POST THIS. Children are not allowed in the pool! There was banging noise from the room in the morning. front desk is rude. Bad customer service. Will not return.

Check-in time is five o'clock not four on Sunday. Getting to the hotel entrance was confusing and difficult. Staff was courteous but the environment was not peaceful or friendly despite the attempt to create a serene atmosphere. Everyone was very guarded. We were forbidden to use the pool without wristbands which were $25 to replace. ID was necessary to go to go anywhere other than casino area. Five stars is way too generous for this place. If you are not going there to gamble you might as well stay home. I left feeling like I needed an escape, not went to one.

The Water Club

1. Unable to use the hotel amenities (pool and gym area)until your room is ready even if you arrive at the hotel earlier in the day. We have never encountered such a thing at any hotel we have ever stayed at before. Most hotels encourage use of their facilities will waiting for room availability. 2. The rooms were spotless and very spacious. 3. The pool area was very nice.

Ended on a strange note

The room was great, very quiet, nice view, 32nd floor Spa was spectacular. Pool hours were very short, I guess they want you out of the pool and into the casino. Strange housekeeping moment - went back to the room around 10am, after breakfast & hot tub to get showered & ready to check out by 11am and the maid was cleaning the room. I explained that we were checking out that morning and if she came back in 20 minutes, we would be gone. She ignored me and continued cleaning the room for about 10 minutes while we were sitting on the newly made beds waiting for her to leave. I hope they cleaned for the next guest because I showered and used the bathroom after she left. I guess someone's room list was wrong, but she didn't listen to me when I said we were checking out!

The Water Club

My wife and I stayed at the Water Club in July 2010. We enjoyed our stay. The room was very neat and first class. The bathroom was very clean. The bed, however, felt like it was not level. My head felt lower than my feet! The hotel staff was adequate but inconsistent. Upon check-in, we were told that we had to wear arm braclets ( handed to us at check in) to swim in the pool on the 32nd floor. When we entered the pool room, we were told that there was a $35 charge to swim in pool. The hotel desk clerk should have told us that. Otherwise, very nice hotel.

Nice place to stay, minor snags

Very nice and relaxing pool area. Don't bring a cooler with you because they will make you check it downstairs. Also make sure to check your bill upon check-out. There was a mini-bar charge even though we never opened it; the staff removed the charge very easily though. Make sure you put all of your friends names on the room when you check in just in case their key deactivates and need to get a new one.

Great hotel with room to grow

I had a nice time at the Water Club. It is attached to the Borgata but it gives you distance between the two. The many pools they offer are essentially 2 (indoor and outdoor) in the same area, but they are spacious enough to fit everyone. My problem was that after 4 in the afternoon there was no sunlight and you had to move inside because it got cold (in July.) I am a firm believer in certain things being included in your stay and some of those things were not included in ours. You have to pay $5 every time to park your car. The internet in the room also costs $10. Those things do not make sense to me. I also asked for a later checkout and they said no. All of those things put a huge tarnish on my stay. I had fun at the casino, the restaurants were good and the room had an amazing view. Overall good, but I probably will try somewhere else the next time I go to AC.

They have a comedy show for $20 every week. Very funny, and ridiculously cheap compared to other shows.
