1940s Atlantic City meets chic, boutique hotel scene, day and night
The first non-gaming hotel to grace the Boardwalk since the 1960s wraps its guests in decor that captures the best of Art Deco, Art Nouveau and cutting-edge design. Fireplace lounges, chill-out bars and poolside cabanas create a cool boutique experience without the casino clutter. Kick back at the Chelsea's two signature restaurants, a spa and fitness center, two heated saltwater pools or beachside in the Chelsea's seasonal lounge chairs. The rooftop swimming pool with cabana service is exclusive to Chelsea guests on weekends (and not those in rooms at the Annex next door).
Highlights
- Glamorous, swanky Atlantic City hotel with direct Boardwalk access to restaurants, casinos, and shopping
- Two pools, bicycle rentals and free 24-hour fitness center
- Retro-glamorous steakhouse with indoor/outdoor seating, plus a classic diner on site
- 10,000-square-foot Sea Spa offers saltwater-inspired massage and body treatments
- An intimate nightlife scene in atmospheric indoor and outdoor spaces with DJs, fireplaces and signature cocktails
Rooms
Eight tiers of rooms and suites in the 20-story Chelsea Luxe Tower start with an iPod docking station, flat-screen TV with On-Demand service, bathrobes, work desk and free Wi-Fi in every room. Upgrade from a city to a water view for invigorating scenery. An ocean-view sunroom and custom mini bar set a posh scene in the Chelsea Penthouse Suites. Teplitzky's classic diner downstairs provides room service.
Features
Guests at The Chelsea wake with the sun, rent a bicycle or hit the beach. Attendants bring towels and lounge chairs, and set up a sun umbrella. (Reserve a coveted private cabana with lounges and a mahogany wood floor well in advance.) Workout-minded guests appreciate the weights, treadmills, cycles and stair climbers in the 24-hour fitness center, along with towels and chilled water. Power shoppers enjoy a full-day of shopping at The Quarter at Tropicana streetscape. Secure valet parking available (fees apply).
Dining
Sink into 1940s supper club ambiance at Chelsea Prime steakhouse and cocktail lounge, where live entertainment twinkles from a white grand piano. Teplitzky's retro diner serves hearty comfort-food favorites for breakfast and lunch.
Nightlife
The fifth floor of The Chelsea is a self-contained destination for Atlantic City entertainment and nightlife, spilling right out to the cabana-lined pool. Sip champagne and cocktails to a DJ beat in the Living Room with an expansive outdoor terrace. Savvy diners reserve a Hollywood-style booth for dinner with a 1940s Atlantic City feel at Chelsea Prime. At The Chelsea's sophisticated C5, dance til dawn with a cocktail menu and bottle service. The Cabana Club lights up with a seasonal scene around the pool. Excitement along the Boardwalk lies right out the front door.

Should have listened
Despite the reviews i read, I decided to book the hotel. We stayed in room 1913, the view was nice oceanfront and the front desk representatives were super nice. Michael the conceriage did call our restaurant and eased our minds as we were running late for dinner. For the price it was good, but don't go in with huge expectations. It looks much longer in person than online. It was clean but you can see where they missed dusting with the dark furniture. The bed was comfortable. It didn't wow us, but it was convenient to the boardwalk and literally two steps away from the Trop. We were surprised that the restaurants were closed in the hotel so we had to go out, which was fine. Overall, it was good, but not spectacular.

Stay Three at The Chelsea
We stay at this hotel in Atlantic City each time we travel from New Haven to Virginia Beach - in each direction. The Chelsea has become like a second home for us. We ate at the diner and gambled next door at the Tropicana.

Good atmosphere
Hotel was nice and accommodating. It was modern, posh, and quiet. We had a luxe king bed on the 18th fl in the 20 story hotel. Bed was comfy and the robes they provide during the stay made us feel pampered. Food in the Teplizsky was good. Hotel was conveniently located a block or two away from Tropicana and the boardwalk is right down the block. It was easy getting from the hotel to downtown with the Jitney buses. I don't think I would have walked the 15 mins distance in the cold and quiet neighborhood. Overall, relaxing vacation.

more like nyc than ac
I greatly enjoyed staying here over at a casino. The staff was friendly and the room decor was fresh and sophisticated. It was a close walk to the tropicana and other casinos. I did not like that there was a pricey mini-bar with no room in the fridge. The ice bucket was tiny and it gave me the impression they wanted to force you to buy their items. I also found it to be quite noisy with such a small hallway on our floor. If it had not been for that I would have had an amazing nights sleep in the plush bed.

Very satisfied
Overall a great hotel. I wasn't looking for fine dining, or any other amenities, only a nice room and proximity to the boardwalk. And in that respect, the hotel was very good. A leisurely 10 minute walk to Trump Plaza for some slots. For the Taj Mahal or Showboat, you can take a short ride on the Jitney, which runs very often, or a cab. Otherwise a 25 minute walk, and I didn't really feel unsafe, even walking down Pacific St. at 1AM. Parking at the Taj is only $5 so driving is also easy. The room was clean, warm, and had good atmosphere. The wallpaper and color choices worked for me. Very cozy yet elegant. There was an ironing board and iron in the closet, which was great for those crumpled up shirts. The entire staff was friendly and helpful, and I had no issues at all.

Return trip to the Chelsea
My wife and I were traveling to Virginia from Ct to see relatives for the Christmas holiday. We had stayed at the Chelsea this past summer for vacation and decided to check it out in the winter season. Rates were lower but services were still great. We had a good time and ate at their diner for all of our meals - friendly people. The outdoor pool is heated and my bride went in and had a good swim. The Chelsea is next door to the Tropicana...we ended "up".

A Shore Getaway
This hotel was perfect for my surprise getaway. The hotel was beautiful and the service was impeccable. Hat's off to the concierge. The view in our room was great and the bed was awesome which is really saying a lot because I tend to be a little picky! The only 'cons' were no clearly marked location for the ice machine and no shower cap for my girlfriend. Minor details... Overall this hotel was great and I would come back in a heartbeat.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
Treat yourself to a meal at the Fork and Knife (which are both fortunately included with your meal). The bill was a little pricey but absolutely well worth the experience. According to the concierge (who recommended it) this historic restaurant came under new ownership about 3 years ago by the owners of the equally historic Dock's Oyster House. Much like the hotel the service here blew my mind. This is a must attend! P.S. The service gets raised another notch if they think you were just engaged (a fortunate misunderstanding!)
