Simplicity is best

Decided to stay at Showboat for convenience, since I wa going to a concert at House of Blues. Was pleasantly surprised at ease of check-in, spotless room and caliber of room. The bathroom rivaled the one in the Ritz-Carlton that I've stayed in recently. The casino and hotel is not overwhelming and laid out simply. It has a Starbucks, nice upscale restaurants and of course The House of Blues restaurant. The only negative was that The House of Blues restaurant was closed after the concert. suprisingly, in summer by 11:00. But , we adjusted and walked to The Hard Rock Cafe which was close-by. Also, the pool was nice but had no cocktail or food service.

Liked the steak restaurant in hotel and lunch spot in lobby. But, also liked that you could walk to Taj Mahal next door for other options.

Glad I picked this Boardwalk Hotel

This was my first time staying at an AC hotel on the Boardwalk, when we walked the Boardwalk we got a chance to check out some of the other Hotels and I am glad I chose the Showboat. The Staff was friendly and patient (I am a first timer and needed to be shown the ropes). The atmosphere is relaxed yet fun. The have the House of Blues Restaurant and Concert Hall, and a carnival type show on the Casino floor several times a day. When we retreated to our room, everything was quiet, clean and spacious. My only grips are that the pool hours end at 6pm on Sun and most of the nicer restaurants in the Hotel are closed on Mondays. As a point of reference I liked this Hotel better then the Borgata, which is decorated nicely, but the staff seemed stuffy.

The HardRock cafe is a on the Boardwalk a few mins from the Hotel, its cheaper then most AC food options but the food is just as good if not better. (depending on what your craving)

Showboat

The Showboat was a pleasant retreat for the weekend. We were anticipating a nice view from the 12th floor, there was construction of another hotel next to us to block the view.. Overall great stay. The House of Blues was great, and so were the shows.. I will stay again.

Nice casino, poor rooms

placement of smoking areas in the casino meant that the smoke expanded over large parts of the nonsmoking areas. The casino, shops, and restaurants were all clean but our room was cleaned interminttently. In fact, there was a pair of panties found from a previous occupant stuck between the shower curtain and liner

Great deal

Less than five minutes walk to the games and right on the boardwalk. Short cab ride, or 20 minute walk along the boardwalk to the outlet malls. Greatly recommend

House of blues had a great menu, including kid's selection, a bit of a splurge but worth it. Also try the buffet in the casino, great selection and for a larger group more affordable than eating at a restaurant.
