Boardwalk central with a taste of the Wild West

Monopoly fans get a kick out of the familiar Park Place and Boardwalk address of Bally's Atlantic City. Out the front door of this Atlantic City hotel, the rides, games, and carnival treats of the Boardwalk await in either direction. A Western flavor pervades the experience at Bally's Atlantic City, from a rousing Wild West theme in one of three casinos (a spectacle of 20-foot mountains, waterfalls, lightning, and storefronts designed as a rugged, old West town), to a chuck wagon station at the buffet. Unwind at the free, tropical pool in Claridge Tower.

Highlights
  • 18 dining options include a 24-hour coffee shop and Sammy Hagar's Beach Bar with live music, DJs, and a Tex Mex menu
  • Central location on the beach in the heart of the Boardwalk
  • Easy walking distance to The Pier Shops at Caesars, outlet stores and the amusement park rides on Steel Pier
  • Family Fun center with indoor pool, arcade, games and prizes
  • Private spa pool and hot tubs near the fitness center, spa, and salon (fees apply)
Rooms

Even the Classic Rooms with rather basic hotel decor include high-speed Internet access (fees apply), pay-per-view movies, video games, compact refrigerators, coffeemakers, bathroom heat lamps and safes. Deluxe Rooms at Bally's Atlantic City spark more interest with contemporary wall art and dark wood furniture.

Features
Smack dab in the center of the action along the Boardwalk, Bally's Atlantic City makes exploration on foot an easy feat. Shoppers need only take a few steps to The Walk, a collection of 100 name-brand outlet stores.
Casino

The main casino at Bally's Atlantic City offers twists on the traditional with $10 (USD) table games, simulcast race betting and rapid roulette with personal betting stations. At "theRidge," a rock-n-roll style gaming room, dueling pianos, DJs, drink specials and table games prevail. Join a daily tournament in Billy's Poker Room.

Spa

At the Spa at Bally's, indulge at the more private spa pool with inhalation room and hot tubs, adjacent to the spa, salon and fitness center (fees apply).

good trip

Our room was nothing special, but was clean and in a quiet location. It was "good enough", and was in the Claridge Tower. Their restaurant, "6ix" was rather overwhelmed for breakfast in the late morning, with a wait in line of about 45 minutes, but it was fine for dinner and for breakfast if you show up before about 7:45 a.m.

The Claridge Experience

A group of 8 friends were looking for a fun/relaxing getaway in Atlantic City. We wanted something convenient and nice, but not too pricey, so we booked our room at Bally's Atlantic City. What we did not realize is Bally's has bought out several nearby hotels, including The Claridge, and booking a room at Bally's means you can be placed in any of them. Although I didn't see inside the hotel rooms at any of the other Bally's-owned hotels and can't say if they're nice or not, if you do decide to stay at Bally's I recommend requesting that you NOT be placed in The Claridge. Here is a brief breakdown: -All of the common areas in this hotel reeked of unpleasant smells including a strong urine scent which was quite disgusting. -The hotel tower is set far back from the beach making it a pain to carry your beach gear to and from and a haul to get back after a long night. -Our "ocean view" room meant seeing the distant ocean from an 8x10 foggy, bolted shut window. -The accommodations included noisy air conditioning, a broken mini-fridge and old t.v. - nothing lavish. -The style/decor needs major updating.

Most all of the food in Atlantic City was absolutely disgusting and overpriced (and don't get me started on the service). Places to avoid eating include 1) The Bikini Beach Bar - on beach across from Bally's) the food and drinks are extremely overpriced and the food is stale, soggy and gross. 2) Trinity (inside Shops at Caesars)- again very overpriced, horribly loud music blasting and terrible food. 3) A D@mn Good Sports Bar (inside the Quarter at The Tropicana)- the food here is absolutely awful but they do have great drink specials which means if you're drunk you won't taste or remember the food as much! 4) Bill's Gyro- we went here for the 24 hour breakfast- the waitress was rude, all the food was greasy and the eggs tasted like Gyros. Some places that were decent to eat at were 1) The 6ix Bistro in Bally's - the $7.77 Steak and Eggs was good quality and a great deal. 2) Wolfgang Puck in The Borgata- Despite having to send back an undercooked chicken breast that my boyfriend probably got Salmonella from, this was the best meal we had in Atlantic City. 3) The Deck at The Trump Marina- This place was right on the harbor and had a reasonably priced selection of seafood that was decent.

Not that good

The Claridge tower is old and smells pretty bad. The view I had was awful and we had to wait 3 hours (after check in time) until our room was ready.

Great hotel

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Bally's. The location was great- on the boardwalk in the middle of everything. They have casinos, restaurants, and bars all within the hotel. I took other travelers' advice and requested not to be in the Claridge tower- so we were put in the main Bally's tower in a corner room which was great (we paid for a deluxe room).

Got placed in Claridge, 2nd rate ext.

Booked for Bally's, but got placed in a 2nd rate extension of Bally's in the Claridge Hotel. Not appealing whatsoever, not going back Bally's or Atlantic City in general.

Mis lead by orbitz rep

Orbitz did not specify what tower i would be staying in, the hotel has nicer towers then others, Orbitz puts you in the claridge tower, which again is not as nice, but does not specify on site. This is why you get a cheaper rate then the hotels rate. And when you book through orbitz you get less favors once you get to the front desk and checking in, because you did not book threw them. I blame hotel and orbitz. It was my moms bday and wanted to be closer to her, we wound up paying more money to stay in the main tower. Before hand i had a feeling this would happend, and the orbitz rep told me that he called Ballys and spoke to a [...] and she said it was def possible for me to be put in the main tower. He even said he faxed a request for me. Once i arrived, they said it is really not possible unless they are dead and that they do not have a [...] who works there. I should have just booked through ballys, both customer serv ballys and orbitz was horrible, they just blames each other and no one takes responsibilty for the wrong info. You get what you pay for.

Not what I was planning for

We were not able to get into our rooms until 4:45. Our room was away from everything and very dingy and not worth what we paid.
