The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel

If you are attending events in Asbury Park, the Berkeley is a good option. Rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Nothing special, but it works. The buffet breakfast was over-priced for what they served. Staff is helpful and outgoing. We did have some problems with our shower and tub, but would stay here again.

I booked this trip on Orbitz the day of and received an excellent over night rate. The hotel room was clean and had a great ocean view. Highly recommended

Great hotel from check in to check out a great experience. Great staff, very helpful. Valet parking was great. Hotel was very clean, spacios. Great location. Close to everythinf you need.I love the fact that it's right on the beach. My mom and I really enjoyed the beach.

This hotel is beautiful and the view of the beach is stunning. However, the value was lacking- as many others experienced, key cards didn't work; elevator often out of service, housekeeping left our door wide open when we came back one evening-tried to tell the desk staff but they really didn't care to listen; parking and food is outrageously expensive.

The beach, small boardwalk, and nightlife left something to be desired.... as for the hotel the room was beautiful, all compliments end there...There was no parking. NONE. I find it absurd that i would have to pay for parking at my own hotel(single person/one vehicle) so instead i was directed to do meter parking across the street.The meters stop at midnight and resume at 9 am, the desk clerk told me to call the number to pre-pay for parking in the morning, no answer. When I called them the next day to complain about the 55 dollar parking ticket I got, they said you cannot prepay for parking over the phone and i should have purchased 24hr parking for 10 dollars... again paying to park at the hotel i was staying at..if i knew there was no parking i would have selected a different hotel, [...]the aggrivation of parking practically ruined my vacation... a day at the beach without stress and i get a parking ticket and a hotel that could care less about their customers.Oh and the bar was closed at like 10 another strike against.

Okay, so it was waterfront on a Saturday nite in August. Still highly overpriced at just over 400 dollars with tax and 20 dollar parking. Obviously, this was once a beautiful hotel and there has been an effort to update with paint carpet and furnishings but the place is still has that painted over dingy look. There was no hotel or area guide in the room. No plastic bag for dirty clothes. The drain in the sink didnt work and the lack of screens on the eight floor windows looking out at the Atlantic was diconcerting. They do have analog tv.

Overall great experience. The location is right across the street from the Boardwalk and beach. The cleaning staff could be a little more thorough when preparing the room, as the bathroom could have used a scrub and the floor a better vacuuming. Overall, a nice modern hotel with a great location.

We checked in on Friday morning so it came as a surprise that the hotel room was hot but we turned up the AC to the max. This did nothing and the heat was unbearable as this was Memorial Day weekend and we were in town for a family reunion and vacation. We informed the front desk that our AC was not working and they said they would have someone check it out so we left and went to the beach. It was 87 degrees that day and when we got back to our hotel room it was a furnace. The hotel front desk informed us that they were still looking into it and it should be fixed that evening. It not only did not get fixed but to our dismay the ENTIRE hotel had NO air conditiioning in the middle of summer!!! The next morning we ask if we can check out and go to another hotel because the heat was unbearable and we were unable to function normally in an unairconditioned room/hotel. We looked for another hotel but no one had availability left on the beach so we were stuck. I demanded some type of compensation to which the front desk responded that management was looking into it and might do something about it or they might not. We then demanded they buy us a fan for the room at least and we were told we could go buy one for no more than $50. We were also told to not mention this to any other guests. Our tub was clogged so everytime you took a shower water would fill up. The elevators were old and only one worked so it took forever just to get in and out and each time you would break out in a sweat from the heat. I give this a hotel a ZERO. It was the WORST hotel I ever stayed in my life and I would NEVER return. This is not what you expect when you pay $200 a night!!!

Had an enjoyable early evening cocktail in their very cool bar! This hotel is very comfortable, clean and the staff if incredible! The room was PERFECT! The lounge and dining room were more than acceptable and will certainly be back for their weekday dinner and room specials.
