Average Stay

I was looking for a hotel that provided an immediate overnight stay near the Interstate so that I could return my rental car to Boston Logan International Airport before 10:00 a.m. the next morning. It served it's purpose. It's near the Interstate which was the most important point. At $125 night, it was also the best rate I could find. I wasn't expecting world class customer service nor the best room in the world so I received exactly what I expected. I had time to spend several hours downtown and explore the waterfront and have supper. Then I turned in for the evening. If I could make a recommendation it would be to provide better lighting in the room as it was very dark even with all available lights on. I can say this much--with a name entitled "America's Best Inn" it definitely wasn't that but it satisfied the need I had.

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

It's a short drive to downtown and immediately near the Interstate. If the primary need is a hotel near the Interstate, the rate is reasonable and serves that purpose.

Good cheap place to stay

For the very reasonable rates, you would think that this is not a good place to stay. You would be wrong. I have stayed in VERY expensive hotels in Manhattan that were noiser than this place. There is free wi-fi. The king-size bed was comfortable and the staff was quite friendly. It's a one-mile drive to downtown, where you can park for 75 cents/hour. The free continental breakfast could use some bacon, sausage, and eggs for a five-star review, but that's probably asking a little much for the money.

Great Value!

Excellent. Great price, and a lot of the complaints (noise from highway) were unwarranted. Pleasantly surprised. This was a great place not far from downtown!

Really would not recommend this hotel

[...] at the Front Desk was great!! The hotel itself was noisy, not that clean, the room was adequate but the bed felt like sleeping on a rock. If I had not gotten a great price with [...] this would have been really a terrible hotel.

Americas Best Inns - Portmouth

The hotel was clean and friendly. Location was good, but a little noisy due to location near the highway. Portmouth, NH was a very nice town to visit. A lot of thing to do downtown with shops, dining and entertainment.

Good priced hotel, parking available

The staff was very friendly. Our accomadations was a non-smoking king size room. It was very clean and for one night stay it was a decent rate. The hotel is close to a highway so it was a little noisy. The complimentary breakfast was really nice. I would stay here again.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

about a five minute drive to historic Portsmouth. We arrived very late. I noticed that there were about three other hotels in that area.

keep away. very disappointing.

we stayed for one weekend night on September. We arrived at around 3pm, got keys to a room on the second floor but when arrived to the room it was still not ready! We had to wait 10 minutes in the hallway. The receptionist who gave us the keys passed by us when we was waiting and didn't say a word. Both he and the other receptionist were very unfriendly and treat you as if you're an annoyance. We had a reservation for a room with a king-sized bed but got one with a full-sized bed. Not even a queen-size. When we complained the receptionist said there aren't any other rooms available so we can get a ten dollars discount or just leave... Reluctantly we had to accept her offer for the compensation. The hotel is literally on the I-95 highway, which means it's noisy at all times of the day. Adding to that were noisy guests that were yelling on the phone at 1:30am... In the morning we woke up to the smell of cigarette smoke... The room was generally run down and the elevator was out of order when we arrived at night. Gladly the weather was perfect so we didn't spend any time more then the mere necessary at the hotel.
