Review of Lake Opechee Inn

The hotel and the setting is idealic. We didn't eat at the hotell The swimming pool is tiny and the "hot tub" was cold. Our room was upgraded to a lake view with a balcony.. it was perfect! It was a shame that we couldn't have stayed longer.

Super lake view location, upscale resort

This hotel has the best lake view. Make sure you reserve rooms that has a lake view - worth the additional money. The rooms are spacious with huge wooden furniture. The view of the lake at sunset is priceless. The hotel has a nice upscale restaurant with great service. The friendly restaurant staff cooked up some great vegetarian dishes on our request. Highly recommend for couples as well as families wanting to spend a relaxing weekend.

Excellent Getaway

Honestly this was one of the nicer hotel stays I have ever had. My girlfriend and I took a trip up because she has never been to the lakes region and I spent every summer up there on family vacations when I was a teenager. We chose this hotel because it was our first trip away and we wanted to do something special. We decided to upgrade to the balcony room, and it was worth the extra money we paid. The hotel rooms face directly west, so every night you get to watch the sun set over the lake through the large double glass doors at the foot of your bed. It was a little hot for the fireplace, average temperatures were in the 90s, so we didnt get to enjoy that part of the room. The rooms were very large, wth vaulted ceilings, and we honestly didn't want to leave. We extended our stay an extra night just because of great time we were having together. The hotel was peaceful and tranquil, we could have probably spent the whole trip indoors because of how comfotable the rooms were. I would have given this hotel a 4 1/2 star rating if that was an option. There were a few things I saw as a drawback. The indoor pool is only about 20' x 10' and 5' deep. There wasn't an outdoor pool that I saw. There was no wi-fi in the rooms, although they did provide me with the free cable to plug my laptop directly into the wall. We attempted to book a couple's massage at the spa, but they were booked solid for the three days we were there. Not a knock against the hotel really, but we also felt like we were the youngest couple staying in the hotel, as we are both in our mid-20s. Overall, we had an amazing time and are already planning on going back around Christmas, just to enjoy the lake being frozen over. This time I will make sure to book the spa well in advance, and I would suggest you do too. This hotel is definitely worth it.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

There was an antique store we stopped in while driving around one day, I believe it was called Paws antiques. It's on the right side of the RT. 3, just past Weirs Beach. It was a really nice shop with a lot of interesting things.

Lake Opechee Inn - Pricey but Impressive

Stayed only one night and checked in late. But, super clean throughout hotel. Very quiet, even the stairs are carpeted. No smoking facility. Flip of a switch fireplace with tv directly overhead. Room was quite large with private deck. Whirlpool very relaxing. Would have stayed an extra night if I won the lottery.

DEFINING OLD WORLD HOSPITALITY

FROM THE MOMENT I WALKED IN UNTIL WE LEFT THE FOLLOWING MORNING EVERY ENCOUNTER WAS FIRST RATE. WE WERE SHOWN THE FAMILY SUITE I BOOKED AND OFFERED TO LOOK AT SOME ALTERNATIVES WHICH WERE CHEAPER AND AFFORDED BETTER WHEELCHAIR ACCESS. IT IS RARE FOR A HOTEL TO OFFER TO LOSE INCOME IN ORDER TO OFFER A BETTER SITUATION. I OPTED TO KEEP THE HIGHER PRICED ACCOMODATIONS. WE WERE OVER AN HOUR EARLY FOR CHECKIN BUT THEY DIDN'T MISS A BEAT AND WE WERE IN IN NO TIME. WHEN WE RETURNED FROM THE CONCERT AFTER 11PM THE DESK CLERK FOUND A WAY TO ACCOMODATE US FOR A LATE NIGHT SNACK OF BAGELS AND JUICE. MY WIFE COMMENTED ON THE DIFFICULTY SHE IS HAVING QUITTING SMOKING. THE CLERK HAD SPOKEN WITH SOMEONE RECENTLY WHO HAD TRIED SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND BY MORNING WE HAD THE WEBSITE TO CHECK OUT. WE TRAVEL 4 OR 5 TIMES A YEAR TO VARIOUS CITIES AND TEND TO STAY IN SUITES. THIS INN RANKS AT THE TOP OF MY LIST AND THE SUITE WAS NOT ALL THAT EXPENSIVE!!! I WILL STAY HERE EVERYTIME I GO TO MEADOWBROOK FOR A CONCERT! CONGRATULATIONS STAFF! YOU ARE THE BEST!

Great for business or leisure

We love the food and ambiance of the restaurant, O's. The room at Opechee was very roomy and the bed was so comfortable. The balcony overlooking the lake was large, everything was just so cozy. Would definitely stay there again.
