Disappointed Guest
Musty Smell
Based on the high user reviews I was expecting more. When I checked in I was told the room had a detached bathroom! The bathroom was across the hall and near other rooms. I've stayed at some real dives but I have never heard of a detached bathroom. I asked for another room and was told there were no more anywhere the coast. In addition the room was tiny and REALLY musty smelling. The room was the size of a closet and was next to a sloped wall that hit you in the head every time you walked around the bed.

Exeter Inn
It was wonderful! The breakfast in the morning was amazing. They also had turn down service where they left a bathrobe out on the bed and chocholate chip cookies! It was a short walk to the center of town (lots of shops, walking trail on the river). Also a short drive to Kittery and Ogunquit.

Great new renovations!
The Exeter Inn has just undergone an amazing renovation. This is the 3rd or 4th time I have stayed here and I must say the upgrade is amazing. Beautiful new bedding and flat screen tv in the room plus huge bathroom with lovely bath accessories including robes! I ate brunch at the brand new restaurant and ordered room service for dinner, both were excellent! I highly recommend this charming inn and will probably stay there again.

Great local shopping within a short walk from inn. Local crafts and my favorite lingerie shop called Top drawer where the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly!
