Pearl in the Woods!

Service at this Hotel was top notch, from Bellman to Waitress to Bartender to Concierge. Food at Stickleys was awesome, views were breathtaking, building was old but beautiful details. Grounds were well cared for. Wished we would have stayed longer.

Old times

The Hotel is a well-preserved throwback to the European grand spa style pre-World War I and does a commendable job of it. Food is excellent and not overpriced, the style and mountain location are priceless and service as attentive. The owner and Omni Hotels as operator are to be commended for .keeping this Grande Dame in robust health, with plenty of modern sporting activities for a younger generation on site and in the surrounding mountains. While Omni runs a sharp operation, it has to be said that it is rather programmed and soulless--like first class on any international airline. A little more personality discretion to the staff might help. Also note the main attraction, that is the Hotel, does NOT accommodate pets; this is done in the Bretton Arms B&B annex, a five-minute walk away. The history tour will introduce you to the Hotel's unique historic role in the 1944 United Nations conference that founded the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, and established the international economic order that is still with us. Shop for off-season prices to make it affordable.

Dining tip: In Hotel

Dine in the main dining room, preserved much as it has been since 1903. Don't be put off by the antique grandness, it is not wildly expensive and the food and service are friendly and impeccable.

For what you pay, you should expect more

Don't be fooled, you're paying for the hotel location and nothing else. All activities are quite expensive. The food sent me over the top. For a hotel this 'prestigious', the food should be excellent. Quite frankly I have had the same or better at a chain restaurant and those are faster and 60% less expensive. The food was dreadful there is no sugar coating it. And surrounding options are limited. Hotel staff is nice and views are amazing. However would not recommend and won't return.

Skip all establishments within the hotel. There is a smaller building nearby that has a good restaurant but unfortunately it is closed several nights.

Pleasurable getaway

The Omni Mount Washington is first class all the way. The location and views are amazing. Dinner in the main dining room was fantastic. I highly recommend Afternoon Tea in the Princess Room. While my trip was short, there is plenty to do and I would definitely return to the hotel and take more time to experience all that the hotel and the area has to offer.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Definitely take the time to visit the Cog Railway. It is very close to the Omni Mount Washington. Once you enter the road leading to the railway, stop about two miles on the right where you will see a sign about water and a small bridge just beyond it. There is a beautiful view of the gorge there--not to be missed. We received this tip from a staff person at the hotel.

30th anniv. trip

This was a perfecft location for our 30th wedding anniversary. It was so relaxing to sit in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the majestic presidential range. There were many activities right there in the Bretton Woods area and it was especially nice to relax and have a cocktail in the evening and not have to drive to get dinner. Everything you need is right there at the Mt. Washington Hotel!

Shuttles are available to take you to the Adventure Center at Bretton Woods ski area and when you're a guest at the Mt. Washington Hotel you can take a free chair lift to the top and enjoy excellent views, hike a trail or have a snack at the restaurant on top.
