Clarion Inn Fremont

This stay can be summed up by simply saying ...disapointingly dirty. The room (210) had a sour smell through out the room which came from the bathroom. The shower curtain had a large spot of mold and smelled very sour. The plumbing was bad. I was traveling on business and it was a rotten way to start your day when the shower temp was next to impossible to get set correctly. The water came out of the faucet fine, but as soon as you turned on the shower head it would turn ice cold and the water pressure coming from the shower head was bad. Miserable way to start the day. I had to clean the coffee machine in order to use it and the entire hotel room was not clean. The hotel staff needs to be reminded that they are in the hospitality business. They were not rude, but they certainly gave you the impression that they could care less about having you enjoy your stay. In fact when I checked out, I was not even asked how my stay was and simply had my receipt handed to me. Smiles and a nice attitude were not easy to come by.

My child had a bowling tournament across the street on Saturday morning, so we stayed at the Clarion overnight to avoid the early morning driving. We enjoyed the wilderness theme and even though the hotel was clearly not new, it was clean. We had a room that walked out to the hot tub and pool area, which we enjoyed early in the evening. According to the guest services book, the pool and fitness center closed at 10:00 p.m. Unfortunately it sounded like a party right outside my door, I called guest services at 10:30 p.m. to expain that we were getting up very early, and the noise was preventing us from sleeping. She stated that the pool closed at 11:00 p.m. There was no sign of the area clearing out, so I called again at 11:05 p.m. The desk person closed the pool, but there was still a great deal of noise until well after midnight. Apparently there was a wedding party staying there. When I checked out the desk person asked if we were able to get any sleep. I replied, "not much;" however, she did not offer any compensation for the unpleasant experience. I decided in the future to stay home and get up early to drive so we could get more rest. We did enjoy the reasonable prices, nice atmosphere, and food in the hotel restauraunt at dinner and the continental breakfast. If you are expecting a restful night, I would recommend checking to see if there are any events going on in the hotel prior to booking. If so, I would stay elsewhere. I would not book a room facing the pool if you plan to go to bed before 1:00 a.m.
