Huge room

My son and I stayed for one night for a college visit to look at Wake Forest University. The hotel was very convenient to restaurants downtown and to the University. Our corner room with two beds was huge--a great value. There is no onsite restaurant for breakfast but the room had a refrigerator and microwave so we picked up a few items the night before.

Out of the ordinary in a good way

Very charming and generally well-maintained. A nice break from the Chain Hotels. Desk staff and one man wait staff in the pub restaurant were excellent. Food was good too. Some small problems encountered were failure to make a requested wake up call (actually that wasn't so small), no cups to use in the one cup coffeemaker and the breakfast doesn't start until 7:00 am which isn't good for a business traveler with early meetings.

they missed the mark...

The building was beautiful. The lobby was nice. The rooms were sparsely decorated with cheap furnishings. The shower head was broken off so water came out like a hose. The window binds were broken and dusty. Certainly a disappointment. Although I prefer to stay in boutique hotels I think the next trip to Winston-Salem I will be staying in a chain hotel.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Mozelles on 4th Street was amazing. It made up for the average to poor hotel experience. I would dive back just to have dinner there again.

Wonderful old hotel made from a cotton mill. Unique, large rooms, quite, uncrowded. Would go again.

Delightful stay. Loved it.

Our stay at the Brookstown Inn was fantastic. The staff was extremley helpful and friendly. The room was more than we expected. Everything spotless. The inn itself is very unique and charming. One of the best places we have stayed. We have business again in Winston in the next few weeks and will definantly be staying at the Brookstown again.

Excellent atmosphere

I had a King Suite and the room was fantastic. The bathroom was huge, the bedroom area was nice, but the living room with fireplace, large plasma TV and refrigerator and microwave was excellent. I enjoyed the charm of staying in a renovated commercial building with exposed brick and wood beams. It was a comfortable, welcoming place to stay.

Perfect Historical Inn

Brookstown Inn was like a trip back to the luxury of the golden old days. The Inn is a converted textile mill from 1837. The room are huge, yet confortable. Just a short walk to Old Salem.
