Never Stayed There

Did not stay there. My husband made my reservation for the wrong night. The hotel made no effot to work wih me on resolving ... this problem. Ended up staying somewhere else.

Only up for the weekend. Hotel is conveniently located in Wilmington. We traveled all over Wilmington and were never far away ... from the hotel which we came back to a few times during the day.

Nice staff, minimal anything else

People were friendly, continental breakfast was adequate but minimal, some of the other "residents" appeared and sounded ... (especially late at night/early morning) to be less than desirable. Deadbolt and chain was reassuring.

From the minute we stepped foot in the door I could tell it wasn't going to be good. The room was not clean and the bathroom ... smelled awfull. It seemed as though it had not been cleaned well in a long time. The food available in the am was not even worth the time it took to walk to the room. White bread only sugary cereal only. Water for tea was not even hot. Any other food were totally sugar and that was about it. Not a good experience!

Disappointed in Wilmington

We arrived at the hotel at about 6 PM on Friday, 31Jul2009. When we went into the room it was very very hot. Apparently, the ... air conditioning had not been on all day. Luckily, we did not have to stay in the room immediately, so I turned on the A/C and saw a maid and tried to tell her to be sure to leave it on. Unfortunately, the maid was from India and told me only that she spoke no english. I then went to the office to complain and was told that I could speak with the manager the next morning because he worked 7AM to 3PM. Well, the next morning we didn't bother; but we will probably not stay at this hotel again. We had stayed there the previous October and because it was cooler, we probably didn't have the same problem.

The ac worked well. Breakfast is really a joke! Location is good.The motel is very old and heeds to be cleaned really well. ... My fishing buddy and I do not expect a lot but this place did not live up to the photos or the on line description. Would not stay there again.

This Howard Johnson was old and in need of some updating. The door to the room looked like it had been kicked in at some ... point in time. Was glad we only had to spend the one night. There was a musty odor in the room.

It was fine for a one night stay. I opted for late check in and got there are 6:30p. I got the room keys and checked out the ... rooms before going to concert I was in Wilmington for. The hotel was no more than .5mi from where the venue was and right around lots of restaurants and fast food. So dining wouldn't have been an issue. If I were going to stay for three or more nights I wouldn't recommend this place. But again, good for just a place to sleep.

We recently spent two nights & 3 days in the Wilmington area. This motel provides a basic place to stay, is competitively ... priced, and is conveniently located for access to the downtown area, Wrightsville Beach as well as the UNC-Wilmington campus. Nonetheless, I wouldn't really recommend this motel. The check-in desk personnel was not very friendly and the carpeting in our room did not seem particularly clean. One evening, we came back to find out we had a roach as a roommate! There are a lot of other motels in the immediate area; I'd check some of these others out before choosing this one.

We used Howard Johnson Express Inn - Wilmington, Wilmington, North Carolina because of the price and its convenience to a ... particular medical facility. I can't say the room clerk was friendly or welcoming in any way. The WI-FI is only available thru an ethernet cable. Woever remodeled the room was an amatteur. The continental breakfast leaves a LOT to be desired. It was a clean place to sleep and shower-oeriod.

The Howard Johnson Express Inn - Wilmington is a small one level motor court that is very well maintained inside and ... outside. There is a desk area, comfortable beds, a microwave, refrigerator and a very adequate bathroom area. Couldn't ask for a more convenient location being equidistant from the downtown historic area and the beach communities. The staff is very helpful and courteous. All in all a very, very good value.

The Howard Johnson Express Inn - Wilmington, NC was a good location for accessing downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach. ... The room size was adequate, the beds very comfortable and having the refridgerator and microwave was a real plus. There were many places to eat near the hotel.

The Howard Johnsons was in a good location for us. There were several restaurants, shops, and stores in easy access to the ... hotel. The beach was 20 to 25 miles away, but we had our choice of two beaches, which was great. The room was comfortable. The king size bed was accurate. The bathroom and vanity area were small and I am a big man that needs lots of space.
