Parking Nightmare!
My husband and I have stayed at the Hilton Riverside in Wilmington, NC several times before. For the past two visits, we have been very disappointed with this facility, especially the parking. After paying $9/night, you receive a tag for your vehicle which apparently gives you a hunting license to find a parking place wherever you might see one. Our first night with them, we found one space in the designated lot beside the hotel when we arrived around 5:30 p.m. The followiing evening, we did not return to the hotel until around 8:30 p.m. There were no vacant spaces in any of the three designated lots. We wound up parking down the street from the hotel. We did not feel very comfortable leaving our car there but we had no other choice. The hotel had a wedding and reception booked for that evening in one of the ballrooms as well as some sort of dance taking place in another area. Plus it was Saturday night so there were people coming to eat at the Ruth Chris Steakhouse which further took up parking spaces. When we walked back into the hotel from parking down the street, we had to manuever past several very drunk people. At approximately 2:30 a.m., we were awakened by some obviously drunk people in the hallway outside our room singing, clapping and talking loudly. When we checked out on Sunday, the nice young lady at the front desk took the $9 parking fee off of our bill since we were not able to park at the hotel. We have stayed at other Hiltons and enjoyed our stays immensely. However that is not the case for the Wilmington Riverside.

Great Location for seeing NC history
This was a terrific location for a business trip. Also try the sweet potato fries in the hotel restaurant. They are outstanding. Instead of being coated with salt they are covered with cinnamon and sugar. Very Tasty.

Wilmington Trip
The town was great, the food was great, and we loved being on the river. I was disappointed that all the shops closed up at 5:30 in a tourist location. Hotel was great except that the bed was not comfortable. It had an elaborate mattress but I did not care for it. Our first night the sheets felt sticky and dirty. We did not know this until 1:00 am so we made it through the night and when I asked to have them changed right away the next morning the maid service was very accommodating about it.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
shop early at all shops including the cotton exchange as the shops close up at 5:30. They focus a lot on the night life with many many clubs that stay open till early morning hours. Not much for the family to do after 5:30.

Great location and beautiful area
Staff was friendly, good effort in accommodating needs. Parking lot should have direct access to hill, rather than needing to walk up a hill with luggage. Pool area needs attention. ripped loungers, VERY CHEAP and SMALL towels - and the only restroom, you need to go into the hotel and walk by the restaurant - which is unacceptable when in a swimsuit.

Nice view, comfortable room
We paid a whopping 239$ for this room. We were very surprised that we had to pay 9$ for parking on top of everything. Hotel parking should be free for your guest no matter where it is located. The room was very clean and comfortable, the view was fantastic. The staff helpful and friendly. We were told by our family members who live in the area not to venture out at night because the area is not safe. We got there around 7pm and we didn't go back out, we were too tired !
