The hotel is a bit aged, but well-maintained for the most part. The staff were nice and friendly and, for the most part, ... efficient. The breakfast was nice; although it would be nice of them to include at least one kind of oatmeal among all those five or more kinds of grits. Not all tourists are from the local area! The rooms were standard size; the fridge, however, was a lot bigger then I've seen before in a hotel. The room was clean; however, the laundry area was filthy and none of the two driers worked - we ended up packing wet clothes and going to the coin laundry a few blocks away. There was wireless internet in the room, but no internet on the front desk (or else the clerk lied to us) - when we needed to print directions home, we had to go to the Ramada next door and beg the clerk there for help. The location is really great - it is close to highway, but not directly on one; halfway between downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach. There is Wal-Mart nearby and a number of restaurants. The pool was closed on most of the days that we were there, and on one day we did go it did not seem clean (you could not see the bottom through the water.) Another thing - the people that were staying in the rooms below placed the open-fire grill outside by the door and grilled daily. That did not seem very safe to us - yet, none of the hotel stuff seemed to mind. The price was one of the chief considerations when we were booking this hotel. The price of this one, comparing with the other hotels in the area, seemed much lower. However, we've found out that other hotels may be willing to give you discount if you stay the whole week (which we did) - so the value of this place turned out not to be so outstanding. Overall, it was not a bad place to stay, especially if you prefer a motel to a hotel (walking to your room in a bathing suite definitely seemed a plus.) However, we may choose someplace different the next time.

I went with my boyfriend and we enjoyed the beach and time with friends that were also in town. However, the executive suite ... was a very comfy getaway for privacy and intimacy while we were in the room for a very affordable price. The room seemed aged and well-worn...but I would expect that from a beach hotel. The staff was wonderful and catered to anything we needed in the room right away.

The room was ok. Carpet could have been a lot cleaner. The staff did not seem to interested in our very loud and drunk ... neighbors who hung around the pool and cursed profusely. We had to ask the staff to get them to quiet down at 11:30, then they were out and running up and down the sidewalk in front of our room at 3am!

We liked the hotel staff--very helpful. Room was small but certainly adequate for us. Always clean and cleaned early too. ... Those who require luxury and space probably wouldn't be happy here, but for the price and location we were very happy with the room. There is Wi-Fi in each room.

Housekeeping is below par.
Smilie Jun 12, 2009
Would not stay there again. Would rate the room as average, but housekeeping was one of the worst. We had to wipe off a ... thick layer of furniture oil, on all wood surfaces, that took a ton of paper towels to wipe off before we could put anything on them. No bath towels and the towels that were in the room felt and looked like they hade been used. Towels from the main desk were totally different from what was in the room. Housekeeping never showed up the next day and had to make another trip to the desk for clean linens.

The Americas Best Value Inn was very comfortable, the room was clean and i liked the fact the vanity was separate from the ... bathroom. The location was halfway between Old Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach,on the main road in Wilmington. Very easy access to nearby restaurants and Battleship N.C.. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Overall great hotel for those on a budget, and i will stay again!!

Kevin Jul 13, 2008
The Hotel was good for the price we paid, my only complaint was the bed could have been a little more comfortable, and a ... musky smell when first entering the room, but nothing sleeps as good as home. It was clean, service was prompt to answer any questions & helped with directons to local attractions. We would stay again.

No more ballplayers nights
Sharon Jul 6, 2008
The hotel was okay, but we did not know a group of little league ballplayers were staying at the hotel. They had a late ... night(after 10pm) pool party that kept everyone awake until midnight. My granddaughter was mad because the pool was supposed to close at 10, but was kept open for them. She could not swim after 10 on the night we checked in. Staff was very friendly and complimentary breakfast was good. Will ask before booking if any ball teams are booked next time.

Good value considering price.
Judy Jul 6, 2008
At first I was shocked at the small room size. There was too much furniture for the size of the room. But the carpet was new, ... fresh paint. We got clean sheets every day & room was completely cleaned daily, we were there for 5 nights. Towels etc. were thick & new feeling. We were not looking for alot of amenities & didn't go to the lobby at breakfast time until the last day. The breakfast looked and smelled really good. They are updating and renovating rooms, but it didn't bother us. There are alot of hotels along this main strip of Wilmington, NC. This is an older large hotel. The others were much more expensive, and since we just needed a place to use as a base while we enjoyed the area, this was a good place to be. We enjoyed our stay there.

Not worth the Money
Johnnie Aug 12, 2007
I was very dissatified from the day I checked in, had I not paid for 2 nights I would have went elsewhere. The young lady who ... checked me in was in a big rush. I was actually the only customer in the lobby I the time. I could not understand why she was in such a hurry. The room had rusty pipes along the wall, the bathroom ceiling had been repaired with clear indication it was not painted, but just an area fixed with plaster with no further attention to details. The deluxe breakfast that was advertised on the hotel's billboard was bagels, Tan, coffee, apples and oranges that were too soft and bananas that was too hard(green) and of course Krispy Kreme donuts.
Traveler type: Family
The beaches were easy to get to, and not to far away.
