Pleasantly Suprised
Met my son and his family there by accident. We were all headed for the NC Beach. I got an extra day with my grand daughter--we had breakfast together.

The room was very outdated. It looked like the bathroom door had been chewed up by an animal. TV armoire also was "distressed". The air conditioner sounded like a freight train when it started up and we did not sleep well. We read reviews on the Gardner's Barbecue. Too late, we realized that the food was NOT healthy - lots of fried stuff, swimming in butter, and not very tasty. We ate there anyway instead of leaving like we should have. We would not stay in this hotel again or eat at Gardner's. The rate for the room was reasonable but we certainly did not get a nice one for $55.00 total. Updating would help a lot.

Good Room for the Price
One shortcoming was that the continental breakfast served from 6 to 9 AM was completely depleted by 8:00 when my son & I got there. (There were a few work crews staying there that I'm sure hit it pretty hard rather than wanting to stop elsewhere before starting work.) Micky D's was good fall back 1/4 mile down Wesleyan Blvd. I guess a second 'complaint' would be that, rather than put all guests as close together as possible to make it easy on the service staff, the hotel management should segregate work crews who get up and leave early and make lots of noise with big trucks and calling to each other across the parking lot from families and vactioners who may desire to sleep late and enjoy the comfortable accomodations a little longer. On the plus side, the rooms were very clean and the beds were nice and firm with good pillows. Plenty of hot water for showers even in the morning and good soothing shower heads.

Check Gardner's B-B-Q just across the road for GREAT food at good prices. Lunch and Dinner buffet prices. Nice people; quiet, friendly atmosphere. Non-alcoholic beverage fare a plus for families and NC CCW practicioners. LOTS of other chain-style restaraunts a short drive down Wesleyan Blvd; shopping areas close by also. A great stop-over close to Raleigh (~45 min) but far enough out to be out of traffic on arrival & departure. Would definitely stay here again.

My place to stay in Rocky Mount
We get to Rocky Mount about once a year and stay at the Days Inn. I like the price, the proximity to my wife's family for visiting, the free breakfast, and the NC BBQ place across the street. Will probably do it again next year.

days inn review
WE WENT TO A FAMILY REUNION AT SUNSET PARK @ ROCKY MOUNT. THERE WERE MINOR ISSUES BUT OVERALL THE ROOM WAS GREAT. THE BATHTUB NEEDS TO BE PAINTED AND ONE OF THE LAMPS DIDN'T WORK. WE WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE KEY CARD BUT THAT WAS RESOLVED. OVERALL, WE HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE.
