Downtown Easy

It is close to everything in downtown. The only complaint I had was my neighbors were partying all night long!

New Year's day visit

Great stay for 1 night. Renovation going on during our stay so breakfast was held at a conference room which was OK but the breakfast food provided wasn't all that great. Room was neat & clean and the bed was comfortable.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Had lunch at Bu-Ku a tapas restaurant a short drive from the hotel. Had three dishes from different countries Cambodia, India and Peru, all dishes were great.

Downtown location without the downtown prices

Just in town for one night for a football game. Hard to find a hotel downtown without spending a small fortune. Found great value in staying at the Clarion at half the prices of other downtown hotels. The rooms are basic but they a very comfortable and clean.

Good weekend in Raleigh

We've been coming to the "Hair curler" for years now. We lovingly call it that because the building looks like a giant curler! They are in the middle of renovating and turning it into a Holiday Inn...so it's a bit messy...however, we love it and we'll keep coming back!

Great for Downtown Experience

I really enjoyed the location of the hotel for the price. We were right in the midst of the action, and able to walk everywhere. The room was left a little dirty from the last tenants, such as used soap at the sink. Otherwise, we had a great experience!

A fine hotel

We had a package deal to stay for a weekend for a wedding. The close location to downtown Raleigh made things very convenient, and parking at the hotel was quite easy. The hotel's decor and feel was a bit old, and there as a bit of a slightly musky smell to the room we were given. The staff was very willing to switch our room (so: do ask, if you prefer), but we ended up just running the fan and taking the room as is. The staff was great, and this is a perfectly find hotel for a stay in Raleigh.

Good location, shabby appearance

The hotel was in a great location in downtown Raleigh; however, there was construction going on either in the room directly next to us or below us which woke us up at 8 am after only arriving at 2:30 am. Also, the room was shabby for the price we paid. There was missing molding and writing on the walls in the bathroom. We could have easily gotten the same quality for cheaper.

Good hotel

They are refurbing the Hotel so it was incomplete. That said, the bathroom in our room had the door opening the wrong way which made use almost impossible. The air conditioner unit was so noisy sleeping was difficult

Race Trip

I was in Raleigh to do Half Ironman Tri. The Hotel location was great. Parking available, easy and free. The hotel is an old hotel and slightly run down. Carpets were dirty and old. The room was spacious but the bathroom was very small. No complementary breakfast. Overall good hotel. If you want something more clean and fancy do not pick this hotel.
