Good location, rooms need a little more.

This is the fourth time that I have stayed at this particular hotel. I chose this hotel because it is in walking distance from the local gay clubs and it is quiet inexpensive and because the hotel offered free wifi so I could get on my laptop and search for local events and directions if needed. I was a bit wary choosing this hotel again from the last two experiences but still you could not beat the location and the price. I checked in at about 4:30 p.m. and was greeted by a friendly desk clerk who was more than happy to aid and assist me. She was very friendly and outgoing. I checked in and got my roomkey and proceeded to unpack. The first thing I noticed was that when I went to hook my computer up in the alcove between the main room and the bathroom that the chair was very rickety and half-broken. So I moved my chair to the main desk where there was a nice comfortable king size rolling chair. I set my laptop up and connected it to the wifi from the hotel. Being placed at the very end of the hotel and so far away from the server connection, the supposedly high speed wifi connection was very poorly. Luckily, the connection on my cell phone was great and I had to use it for the remainder of the stay to check directions or otherwise I would have been completely lost. Plusses to the room are that it had an iron and ironing board, a refridgerator and microwave and a coffee pot. The shower was very good. I especially liked the different settings on the showerhead which after a stressful drive was very relaxing. Negatives were the rickety chair, poor wifi connection, overpriced snacks in the vending machine- candy bars and chips were $1.25 where normally you can get them at a convienant store or grocery store for 50 to 75 cent. Another negative was that when I checked out in the morning on Sunday, the desk clerk that was attending the front desk was not very friendly and when I told her about the chair in my room she didn't seem to care. The second time I stayed here previously, I had booked two rooms and one of my friend's stayed in one of the rooms. In his room, he had problems with not knowing how to operate the shower and his air conditioning did not work. Rather than booking him another room at another Day's Inn, he had to stay in the room without airconditioning because they had no vacancies. I was comped a room but only after about 5 calls to the manager explaining my dissatisfaction. When I used the comped room later on in the month, I was once again dissatisfied. I was placed in a room that had no refridgerator. As I have said before, I was apprehensive choosing this hotel for the recent trip but I could not beat the price for the location. Luckily, the only thing that was wrong with the room this time was the poor internet connection and the rickety chair. I chose this hotel for the location, the price and the internet service and was not pleased with the internet. Perhaps they could add another main connection toward the end of the hotel where my room was located to improve connection. Would I choose this hotel again? Probably, because of the price and the location. I may choose another hotel that has a better wifi connection though.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Bring your own snacks and drinks. The nearest convienant store is about 4 miles and difficult to find because of the one-way streets. The hotel snack machines are highly priced and you could save money by purchasing them ahead of time.

Days Inn Downtown

The Days Inn is in a convienent location. If you want to go out, all the bars and clubs are within walking distince. The breakfast provided was very good containing cereal, begals, and waffles. We only stayed one night to attend a concert and the only problem that we had were some guys being loud in the hallway in the wee hours of the morning.

Downtown Alright

WE stayed one night but the hotel was in the downtown location but the area was not appealing. For the price I'd recommend this hotel only. Otherwise I won't recommend to anyone

Some Nices Touches But Lacking

The towels were small, scratchy, and thin. The free breakfast wasn't bad--at least they had fresh waffles--but the juice machine was out of order one morning. The AC was inadequate--the room temperature went from warm to cold. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were better than some. Compared to the far higher-priced hotels closer to the Convention Center, this place was fine for a short stay.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Glenwood Avenue is a short walk from the Days Inn. There are several good restaurants. We liked the tapas at the Red Room and Bogart's not as much.
