Trip to Darlington Raceway

The room we stayed in was in very good order and clean. The housekeeper had left a note that the bathtub was ugly, but it had been sanitized. I thought that was a very thoughtful tihing to do--she was right it was ugly but the note made me feel that it was safe to use. Our stay here was 2 nights, one night on the way to Darlington Raceway and one night on the way back home. The outside walkways did not present themselves very well, but the room was okay. We were supposed to have a sofa bed, but it was not in the room so the room was very "roomy".

Middle of the Road

This was a waystop for me so finding food and a little entertainment were my only concerns other than sleeping in a clean, quiet (and economical) room. This Econo Lodge, though undergoing renovation, provided just that. It's close to many restaurants and my particular favorite, Cracker Barrel. Clean, quiet, friendly and a decent continental breakfast in the morning. In terms of bang-for-the-buck, I recommend this establishment.

Two exits or more of LOTS of restaurants in the vicinity. Visit www.lumberton-nc.com/restaurants.php?a_category=2 to decide which one you'll like in advance. Cracker Barrel was my choice.

Not what I expected...

Just after pulling into the main entrance, 3 police cars come rolling in to stop a domestic dispute that occured in one of the rooms. It took us an hour to be able to move our vehicles from the lobby door to the parking lot. There were fist holes in the walls of the room and the carpet would turn your sox/feet black while walking in the room.
