Hotel ok but area is sketchy
I'm not sure there's a non-sketchy locale in Lumberton. If you need to stay a night, this is a decent place. The staff is nice and the restaurant is fine. But I must say I did worry about my car! (Although, it was fine and I had no problems).

Good hotel, Clean room..
The hotel was easy to find. No issues upon checking in. Room was very clean. Microwave, TV, safe, refrigerator, recliner and chairs on the balcony all provided. I only had two issues. One, a slow tub drain, which was corrected the very next day. Two, the price I was given was cheaper than what I was charged with by [...]!

Poor
This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in; the pictures on their web site are misleading. The room was small, the refrigerator looks like an igloo on the inside, and there was a nasty odor throughout the building and room. the staff never knocked before coming into your room they would just insert their key and enter. I will never stay at another Howard Johnson again. I tried to get another hotel but there was none available in that area.

Go somewhere else and stay cool !
Woman at front desk was very friendly. The room was about 100 degrees and the hotel policy was not to turn on the ac until we got in the room. Needless to say about one hour later and a gallon of sweat, the room was still unbearable. After many phone calls to orbitz and the front desk we checked out and stayed in the country suites across I95. The room was ice cold on check in. We finally talked to the manager and orbitz the next day and agreed on a refund - $15(we used a bar of soap due to the heat in the room. If it wasn't for the room temp we would have stayed. It was clean and doable for the price.

Excellent service and Friendly People
I only stayed there over night but the people were great!!! Everyone was SO Friendly!!! It was very refreshing to go somewhere that wasn't the hustle and bustle of the big city life. I would recomment this hotel and this city to anyone and I would definately be back for more vacations away from home!!!
