Country Inn
I have stayed at several Country Inns and have always had good luck with them. This hotel seemed to be very old, rooms were very outdated, the pool was ridiculously small. The rooms were clean for the most part and the breakfast bar was what to be expected. We actually went to the Howard Johnson to use that pool since we had friends staying there. Next time I'll stay at the Howard Johnson in Lumberton rather than the Country. The rooms were $20 cheaper, pool was enormous, rooms updated and clean

Beautifully landscaped outside. Clean, attractive entrance area. Helpful staff. Excellent continental breakfast. Nice, abundant places to eat. Secure surroundings. You can pay more but you'll only be paying for name recognition. One satisfied customer.

The Country Inn & Suites at Lumberton is cenrally located right off of the Interstate next to a variety of fast food places. The room was large and spacious with two regular beds (though I wish there were the option of at least a Queen size bed at the same price). The sofa and the half-kichen area were very much welcomed. The breakfast area was a bit smaller than for hotels this size (considering a very large reception area at the check-in counter). I don't know how they do it -- maybe it's the aura of Cracker Barrel nearby spilling over -- but the hotel property has the distinct aura of the countryside, but without appearing cheap. A good country stay in a good suburban setting.
